Ram Tah's Mega-Payload Mission!

Hey, friends! I was wondering what was up with Tah's mission. I know the pay for it is glorious (201,000,000 Cr) but I've also heard my fair share of bug reports and complaints in regards to the mission. Hell, I even tried it myself yesterday with the reports of long-range missions being wiped, and unsurprisingly it was a very unique experience in that I've never seen something like this happen in a game before.

So my question is, what the heck is going on with it? I know the mission entails the scanning of Guardian Obelisks and the collection of ancient artifacts, but what makes this mission such a controversial one? Explaining the mission would be cool, if you could... :D

The upcoming 2.3 update will fix the bugs in the ancient sites scanning / Ram Tah's mission.
The existing mission's length has been curtailed to coincide with the new release to avoid people losing progress half way though.

One of the main complaints, from what I can see, is the fact that we still haven't discovered all ruins, and still need to rely on a certain bug to complete the mission. Right now it isn't that bad, but when the mission first launched we only had one ruin site and no clues on how to find the others. Open also showed a lot more lit obelisks than Solo, and it took at least a week (I think it was two) for Frontier to finally confirm the bug, and they told us that Open was bugged, not Solo, and that meant that we needed a lot more ruin sites to complete the mission, but we still didn't know how to find them. Frontier then launched a CG that told us 3 more systems with ruins, and they then released a galnet article with a few more systems, which finally allowed us to start finding more, which is the reason that it now seems fairly easy, as you can now get 94 data pieces without the bug, but at launch it was 14 pieces. Further more, the ruins had the habit of crashing the game, or causing disconnects. This all meant that what had the potential for a cool mission ended up being really annoying.

Having not found all the ruin sites does not really warrant a complaint.
We haven't discovered all the neolithic dwellings on earth in 2017, so not being able to figure out which planet in 400 billion systems a group of long-dead aliens settled on, died on and left ruins on is.. well, I'm sure anyone can see how silly that is.

As for how much data one can muster, I've actually routinely discovered as many as 95 data entries without having to go into Open, pack a site with commanders, log out and in, crash and pray.

So far, out of 3 runs on this mission, I've fully completed 1, and turned in two early, with 94 and 95 data each. My first run I was fighting the clock so to say, as I'd largely ignored this mission to do Other Things, and wound up with 94/101. My second run, I ended at 95/101, no trips into Open, but was hating trying to find places to land my Anaconda. On trip 3, I brought a smaller ship, and had 95/101 before venturing into Open to find the remaining data. Of these two proved particularly "resistant" - Bio 11 and Bio 12.

I'll likely make at least one more run on these before the 10th to complete my own research, but I fully expect to find 95/101 before I need to venture into Open. I also have an additional theory to test for some of the more difficult Obelisks that seemed to work when trying to obtain Bio 11 and 12. If this theory pans out, I'll be glad to share it.
