Rama reference?

The 3 spires at the back of the stations... is that a Rama reference from Author C. Clarke's books? Was half expecting the stations to have a cylindrical sea, thankfully they don't have the little trash spiders though.

Obviously the Blue Danube on docking is a reference to 2001's space station docking scene. Spotted a few interestingly named stations.

Are there many more subtle references to things in the game?

I always think of the Rama ships when I'm hurtling towards that rear spike in the stations. Glad I'm not the only one. And what's wrong with the octospiders? :)

I'd missed that!

Yes - the central spire and the three sub-spires is very Rama-esque.

I'll have to read that book again during the holidays.

If only you could get the Gentry Lee delete abridged version. He totally RUINS those books. There is one that was written only by him and I can't read it or even listen to the audio book without wanting to punch him for being a durk.

Curses! Someone always manages to courier back to Zaonce - the leathery egg (singular) I sell at Coquim - faster than I've ever managed that trip
Perhaps they are also replicating that egg (singular) for all other instances and all other CMDRs?

Or perhaps there can be only one egg? %^]

Three Lavian Brandies for the CMDRs in the void,
Seven Blue milks for the Dockers in their halls of metal,
Nine Leestian evil juices for mortal NPCs doomed to die,
One egg for the dark Micheal Brookes, on his dark throne,
In the land of Zaonce where the shadows lie.
One egg to rule them all, one egg to find them all,
One egg to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the land of Zaonce where the shadows lie.
