Ramming as a Coupe de Grâce

I find that when I'm bounty hunting in my Viper, i like to finish off the target with a nice ram attack:D, if I have allotted shields to do so. I just think it is fun to use my ship itself as a weapon. Anybody else do this?

I have been known to do this also.

One time I heard 'friendship surge detected' and hit boost to get into range to finish with multi cannons. Ended up ramming instead. It was effective and amusing though, so has been repeated occasionally since. :)

After watching in hysterics after an Eagle careened backwards end over end about three times a second after ramming in to me, yes I try to. Most NPC ships I would like to ram in the Asp, however, are very good at dodging.

I'm sorry, I have to point that out : it's "coup de grâce", not coupe. Coupe is a posh word for a glass, which makes it sound quite weird, as you would expect.

On topic, yes indeed, but with the coming "minor" nerf to my current ship shields I'm not sure I'd risk the rebuy cost on that anymore :(

I'll use any method that presents it self to do damage to my target, provided there isn't a more effective option at the moment.

That said, ramming is rarely effective as anything other than the odd attack of opportunity.

I don't ram in combat, but I like to get below ships in the slot, roll my cobra and let the wing spin them out of control into the walls. If you roll them just right it's like making a banking shot in pool :)
Kind of like the pitman maneuver that police use on fleeing vehicles.

I have done this successfully but I've also died twice from collisions. Once my own stupid fault when I was chasing a Cobra, he was moving directly away from me so I boosted after him but I hadn't noticed he'd flipped over and was now hurtling towards me. Cobra to Cobra, nose to nose...booom. The other one was an accidental collision with a fed security vessel while I was in a USS fighting 3 pirates, it caught me a proper clang just as my shield went down. I also do not recommend ramming outposts, though I did survive that one :)
