Ramming : Based on hull mass or total mass?

Since shield only looks at Min/Opt/Max mass i wonder if ramming does the same?

Or is it based on the total mass of a laden ship.

Sorry I cannot help. In fact, to add another layer to this, I thought I heard that speed plays a large role (if not the largest). So both Keelback and Cobra have the same hull mass, but Cobra can do a lot more damage due to faster speeds.

But how that factors in to the damage calculation, where opposing ship’s mass comes in, I have no idea.

Damage seems to be based around the same way kinetic energy is calculated in reality...mass times the square of velocity. There are other calculations at play, and relative damage taken by each vessel is based on relative mass of the vessels involved. Angle of impact also matters, with glancing blows turning less energy into damage.
