Random Alien Hyperdiction theory. or, W.A.G.

i bet all those interdicted have been in open. thus i will always be safe from the evil/friendly/neutral/other mental state aliens because i only play solo.
i think.

ive been hyperdicted 6 times, 3 times in solo, 2 times in open and once in private ( 5/6 of those ive been carrying 10-14 unknown artifacts and probes in various mixutres) only once was i hyperdicted empty

My bet is that you will not ALWAYS be safe.

At the moment you need to be knocking about the Pleiades with a UA in your hold.
But my suspicion is that soon you will be torn from witchspace and forced to have a haircut anywhere.

Where did this term "hyperdicted" come from? As far as I know this is not a game term at all. What is a hyperdiction anyway?

Hyperspace Interdiction.

Isn't that an oxymoron? All interdictions are hyperspace ones - it is the very definition of the term. You can't interdict from normal space. But if you are all being ironic then - I accept that and I'll have a small grin when I get off my grumpy soap box.

There are two kinds of faster-than-light travel in Elite: Dangerous. The first is supercruise where you can travel around a system at sub-light and faster-than-light speeds up to around 2,000 times the speed of light. The second type of faster-than-light travel is Frame Shift which is more similar to the hyperspace travel executed in the older Elite games. Frame Shift allows you to travel very quickly between two different star systems.

In general folks don't refer to supercruise as "hyperspace" although both kinds of travel require the use of your ship's Frame Shift Drive. Interdiction from supercruise has become common since around 28 Oct 3300 with the introduction of the FSD interdictor.

When talking about "hyperdictions" folks are referring to being pulled out of the "tunnel" while traveling between two different star systems. That's something that our FSD interdictors can't do. Only these mysterious eight-sided symmetry vessels of unknown origin appear to have that capability.

I do believe that Cmdr Kerrash Landing coined the phrase "Hyperdicted" & Cmdr Psykokow has been using the term "EliteFeet" for when we get space legs.

Hyperspace/witch space is what you enter when jumping from system to system.

Supercruise is a different technology altogether that does not make use of hyperspace/witchspace.
"Supercruise uses the ship's Frame Shift Drive to compress space in front of a ship and expand it behind a ship, essentially moving space around that ship. This negates any time dilation, as the ship is always travelling less than the speed of light relative to its "frame" of compressed space. " (Elite Dangeous Wiki)

We humans can only interdict ships in supercruise.
We have no access to hyperdiction technology like the aliens have.

Join the thargoids. They are our true rulers, and the true light.

They care not for PvP or PvE. They care not for open, group and solo. They care not if you are a griefer or a forum dad or a care bear.

They will wipe you out all the same :D:D

Me neither.
I have tried for a few hours, but nothing happened.
I did not carry artifacts. So that might have something to do with it.
On the other hand I heard of people getting interdicted without these on board too.

I had luck flying in the few systems near the small dark region nebula next to Maia. Just et to economic with an artifact and 3 jumps later boom :)

Aha! So people are actually getting pulled out of flying between systems - didn't realise that. I thought they were getting pulled out of supercruise. Duh - I can be so stupid sometimes! In that case I apologise to everybody if I appeared to be insulting - wasn't really - just being ironic but even that wasn't warranted.

Hyperdiction it is then! Now I get it.
