random debris fields appearing?

i've been playing for like a year and a half and i have NEVER seen these before, but today i log in and i find TWO in this system i'm bumming around in. i've been in and out of this system for about a month now and they weren't there before today, and apparently they're supposed to be permanent? whut

w-were they broken for forever and now they're fixed again? or do they just show up after a while and this is the first time i see one?

Check what state the system is in. States are important to what's actually going on in the system.

Note every faction can be in a different state and they all affect the system.

the current controlling faction is in outbreak and boom, and the ex controlling faction is none but recovering from pirate attack since the 19th. the two factions here also went into civil war on the13th-22nd, and the lesser faction's pirate outbreak happened on the 15th.

there's checkpoints scattered all over the place, but i know those are tied to outbreaks. the debris fields tho... all the info i can find about them is that they're supposed to be persistent. are they supposed to spawn from things like pirate attacks or war and not be persistent?

there are only two factions in the system due to how remote they are.

they belong to recent outbreak
debris fields are for outbreak

when a faction goes into outbreak the first thing to show up are convoy beacons
you go to these and there are tons of ships with sick people.

there are missions to kill them

it is also a common farm scenario, specially if it is in an Anarchy system where there are no penalties(mostly) for killing them.
Doing so gets lots of manufactured materials.

And as time goes on in the Outbreak, usually 3 to 28 days the beacons are no more and are replaced with debris fields.

the time can vary (for beacons to vanish)if people are trying to do things to help the sick, or trying to extend/cause it.

Interesting. I'm not sure about debris fields, but I would tie them to pirate attack states.

:edit: and it seems my assumption was incorrect :)

oh yeah! there were a handful of those when i got back too and now they're gone today. i was able to find that they were tied to outbreaks, so i didn't think anything of them

hm okay, so it's possible that the outbreak started about the 20th or 21st then. i don't think anyone was in the system until yesterday, which is when the outbreak shows up in any logs online cuz i arrived

guess certain pages around the net need to be edited!

well, I have been hunting and farming outbreak system since horizons dropped and this is how they work.
Combat aftermath is another type, that's just leftover during conflicts, expired CZ's

I actually love it when the Pirate attacks happen in my systems, get to fight real solid ships and some bounties for my bgs.

There is a possibility that something is left behind for Pirate Attack, but having experienced many in some of my systems, I have never seen any debris fields.

I tend to pay very close attention to things like this due to being very good at finding materials and have detailed notes made from my experiences since 2014.

I have seen them around since forever. But then my playstyle is nomadic; I suspect a lot of players dig in like ticks. Nothing worth visiting afaik, unless they've changed recently.

FWIW One of the things in engineering is getting good material sources, as previously mentioned, these Outbreak system convoy beacons in anarchy systems are great because of what you get from the t-9, t-7, t-6 and the hauler.
They have specific lists of mats they each can drop as well.
and you can just fly from 1 to the next, leave the system and come back and repeat. Or you can relog. doing it over and over till you are full.

The Hard part is finding them, this is for any engineering mats really.
The in game map reports controlling faction of a system and its state, not the other factions. Inara was the first to do this, which helps.

My point, HGE's and convoys have always been like this.
It takes effort and time to look and find.
so I would filter only for anarchy systems then look inside each system to see if any other local factions were in outbreak or famine.
don't care where it is, I go there and if I am early enough I get the beacons, if not then only debris fields.

The point is it has never mattered that the system control is in the state, but the game map has no way to give us state of all its factions.
Before the major BGS overhaul where 1 xxxyy faction present in many systems at the same time can now all have different states, this was nearly impossible to ever see because a state in another system could over-ride the indication of another system in outbreak.
When the BGS changed this made it easier to find these because now each faction is in its own state.
I noticed this a very long time ago, as such I have never had any real problems finding systems in certain states for either BGS reasons or material reasons.

The galaxy map in game only shows roughly 1/7 of useful BGS info or simply regardless of BGS, Faction state info. as such it is a glimpse and for most things, zooming in is required.

And Faction state info and system state inf are both important to finding materials.
different states allow for different material
certain factions allow for different material
Certain major powers allow for different material

There is a lot to know in this game on materials.

Famine is good for similar but the thing you scan tons of ship wakes and get data.

idk i think they're pretty worth visiting lol

they don't seem to spawn baddies all the time but when they do it's good hunting πŸ˜‹

heck yeah there is, i'm really starting to get into it and figure out all the little bits and pieces now. thanks for sharing this with me!

I have posted this info regarding HGE's a couple times

Also just good USS farming in general as well

Point being the population is not relevant as it once appeared to be. for both.
I say appear because systems all have equations that indicate what and how they do things.

Too easy too notice this when horizons dropped mostly regarding meteorites materials.
numbers didn't matter, only what you actually see mattered

and in a few posts I point out a system I have controlled for over 5 years and is my goto for imperial shielding.
94k population
Has always shown between 5 and 25 uss's upon system entry, before scanning nav beacon
scan the nav and its often 3 or 4 times as many USS

I have 2 anarchy system that are also like this and because they are anarchy the hge is usually proto mats

Indicator I see is upon system entry if there is 1 or 0 USS's, move on
if there are 3-10, average is usually 5 ish for me, and it does this every time you visit, then its probably always going to have good rng.

Main point here again though was the states and not seeing it all in the galaxy map. anarchy HGE in war or outbreak or famine are gold and hard to find without knowing about NON system controlling factions states being just as important

The thing about numbers is regarding population for uss's and numbers on planets telling percent of mats, which did not exist at first, no list at all
So we had to visit planets and make notes.
so even once the list of materials and a percentage came into the game, anyone with a favorite planet could see the numbers meant nothing
neither does depleted or pristine, not for srv material collecting

I know 3 planets having selenium at 3-4%, tin at 1%

Depleted but I went there before this list appeared
and I get triple metallic very often and so much selenium and tin... its just awful reading others pointing out how hard it is to find.

so here, to me the number missing is obvious, meteor content.
the map says 4% on that body, fine I'm not mining.
meteorites of any type on this body for a dice roll seems 50:50 selenium is in it
at times it feels like 80:20

So, I would add a meteorite rating of
30% - Yttrium
70% - Selenium
50% - Tin
to this particular body because this is how this one appears to what I get from it.
almost every rock has selenium

but rather than another system, just know the numbers mean nothing, never ever have.
the list tells you what is there
experience tells you how much is there.

if you haven't yet I recommend
An Omnibus Guide to Material Finding : EliteLavigny
its old but the insight here was the best I read on faction/power/state

After that, a cmdr simply needs to test things a lot, specially when fdev makes changes as often as they do.
