Random disconnect

so last night looking for imperial shielding in HSS i was getting no where, after 3hrs and only getting one hit i was getting pretty hacked off, had tried different game modes, different private groups and all the other things you do when trying to get the Gods of RNG to stop punishing you....

Then for whatever reason my internet connection died and i got kicked, within 2 minutes i was back up and the search began only now within the space of the next 30mins i get 4 hits all with 4-5 materials each.... happy days

Now i don't know for 1000% but i'm assuming my external IP changed (I don't know because i use DYNDNS and so never check it) but could the change of an external facing IP effect how RNG applies to the player, i don't see how but it also seems a bit of a coincidence, maybe i was just due a change of fortune but.....

anyone else ever seen this or am i looking for a method on the RNG roulette table

Nah, I personally think the Random Number Generator in this game is just pure broken but they can't admit it.

When nothing happens for hours (or days), relog then it happens a few times - not just for one person but a few reports in various RNG endeavours, that isn't random, that shows a pattern.

Combat logging is where you log out during an attack by a player, escaping death intentionally..

Not by Frontier's definition.

Hello Commanders!

To clarify: the official stance on exiting the game via the menu, at any point, is that it is legitimate. I suspect at some point we may increase the "in danger" countdown, but for now you just have to wait fifteen seconds.

However, we can't speak for how other Commanders view such actions.

For the record, when we talk about "combat logging" at Frontier, we mean the act of ungracefully exiting the game (either by ALT-F4 type procedures or by cutting the network traffic).

Not by Frontier's definition.

Wait 15 second is fair, high or low wake is fair, turn off the Internet isn't fair

but sometimes the game kicks you out when you are under intense battle, how tell the difference? It doesn't really matter just a layman's question.

Combat Logging, is logging out of a combat situation to save your own ship.

Now while there maybe a number of FDEV approved ways to do this. If you log out while in combat, you combat logged.

The only people who argue against this are people who are pro combat logging.
Which they will often explain away in that they had to leave the situation because their Cat was chocking or their baby had discovered a box full of axes.
In these dire situations they were ok with waiting 15seconds to log out, rather than rush to the emergency and lose their space pixels.

In another thread just yesterday people were say it was ok to task kill against NPC's in Solo and Private. This forum is a wonderful place.

A mod on this forum has even admitted to 15 seconds combat logging on an NPC when they got in trouble, rather than eating a rebuy. ( I have the screen grab but do not want to risk a name and shame infraction )

Click bait, was expecting another long drawn out slanging thread,.......Disappointed!

What am i going to do with all this popcorn?

What am i doing wrong? I've never been 1 shot by anything even in my Sidewinder but so many people seem to get 1 shot, a lot of the time.

15 second combat logging maybe within the rules, but so is seal clubbing. Both are pretty weak things to be doing.

If there was an emergency would you really sit there and wait for 15 seconds? I certainly wouldn't...

I am amused by the combat logging rage posts in a thread that is not about combat logging, despite the thread title (which should probably be changed, "Extreme combat logging" is always going to prompt the ragers).

To address the OP, unless you have proof I would suggest RNG is random and your success is perceptual bias. You have no way of knowing if you would have found your treasure whether you disconnected or not.
