Random Discussions about Planet Zoo and Stuff

Just about the flying birds thing. I'm not expecting like full habitat but I feel like WE ones are likely. Unless support get cut off this year, then it's really weird why they would've put so much effort into the walkthrough exhibit to only put 3 types of animals in it. And making a parakeet or something off of the rigs we have so far can't be any harder than making the sloth off of only flying animals or making the bats from scratch.
I've lost any expectation for birds since the beginning of 2023. I do think we will get 2-3 flying birds that will be added as a WE animal in the remaining packs that we are getting. I don't think an Aviary DLC will be released. Of course I could be wrong, but we've been crying to the heavens for several years now for birds, both flying and non-flying, and Frontier hasn't given us hardly any of either. It just doesn't seem like they are interested in adding many birds to PZ.

I honestly don’t quite get why some people are so adamantly against a pack with domestic animals or some domestic animals. I’ve been to a good amount of zoos, and at least here in the United States petting zoos are in almost all of them. I like making realistic zoos in Planet Zoo and can’t do it without a farm area.
There are still about >40 wild animals I would prioritize over a domestic pack, but I still kind of want a domestic pack. Highland cows are adorable, goat yards are almost needed for realism, and there are many options for habitat birds.

That said, the best argument I've heard against them is that there are dozens of farming games available in which you can play with and sometimes build enclosures for goats and the like. If people want to make a pretty cage for farm animals they could buy and play ones of those games. Currently, planet zoo is the only thing of its type with such flexible buildings and pretty graphics. It's probably the only way we'd get to play with tree kangaroos, coatis, and all of the other animals people are desperately wishing for.

The problem with a domestic pack for me is that I would die of joy to see my countrys cultural breeds of cow, pig, etc. And I know that ain't likely, so that kind of pack would likely kinda leave some dissapointment for me for that reason alone. If it came with just one of the breeds gotlandsrabbit, linderödpig och fjällcow, etc, I would be up in the clouds. Or some breed that could work as a stand in.

Thinking about it, I would still probably find some specie in a domestic pack that I would absolutely love. Domestic animals in zoos fill their own niche (often high educational value about old cultural breeds), comes with plenty color mutation possibilities and oftenly don't need as big habitats.

However I would be really dissapointed if we got generic domestic animals, I need it to be breed specific and I need it be cultural breeds (even if they aren't my personal preffered breeds)

Yeah heavily agree. If we get just standard old dairy cow and chicken i would be very disapointed.
