random FPS massive drops, high end PC

Hey guys had a quick question that maybe someone else has experienced. In certain systems when im traveling in the first jump phase (sorry im really new not sure what its called) i randomly get a massive lag spike. If i pop out of that first jump mode everything returns to normal. Ive tried different fixes like Core Parking Manage which is a tool used to i guess make more of your CPU readily available, ive ran it in both extend and Direct to no avail and everything from windows to my GPU drivers are fully updated. Is anyone else experiencing this, i also have slight judder when looking around

specs

i-7 4790k
MSI GTX980 gpu
Maximus VII Hero mobo
8G Gskill ram

if you're talking about a couple of jerky movements/moments when you are first going into a hyperspace jump, that is normal. this is the point where the game is loading the next system.

unfortunately not. once i get into that jump speed and im cruising around the current galaxy, i randomly start to see slowly but surely frame rate drop. it gets to the point where the ship is sputtering almost. i notice its when im in a galaxy with a lot of objects in it

when you're in a galaxy? Do you mean while in super cruise? If so, it's related to how many other ships are in the system/area. It's a known issue.. there is another thread right here about it.

i kinda answered my own question too when i said it was only happening in dense galaxies... i should probably just avoid these ones lol. but yeah, i notice it in super cruise, my game bottle necks so hard you cant possibly play it

that is odd though, with a 980 and that cpu it should be fine.

pardon me if i missed but did you OC?

that cpu was designed to be pushed to 4.7ghz and that 980 to easily 1500+ mhz. which will eliminate most if not all the judder in those situations.

I have had the same problems since the gamma, in supercruise. (Judder when moving head) BUT the strange (and lucky for me) thing is, that i switched from a AMD R9 290 to a gigabyte G1 GTX 980 and its buttersmooth now, never goes below 75. I did not OC. My motherboard is a sabertooth mkii and a 4790 i5 8gb RAM SSD.

But since you have a even beefier system, this is strange... PS: i have a very fast glassfiber connection 340up/300down Cat6 with a new Netgear Nighthawk router 1900.

The issue is on their end and occurs irrespective of your system. The problem occurs when the game loads a body or a texture and causes the FPS to drop below 75 fps quite suddenly. This cause the judder effect people are noticing.
Your system setup can go someway to alleviate the problem but only by providing extra fps in game. You might achieve this by lowering graphics setting or playing around with the NVIDia control panel. It doesn't fix the problem though, it only helps maintain 75fps... You will still get the frame drop, you just may not always notice it.
The real problem occurs with cards that can barely handle 75 fps at the best of times or with high end cards using in conjunction with downsampling.
This is why I have asked people to submit numbers, even if you think your experience is "buttery smooth" ... I guarantee you are still experiencing frame drops.
The more info FD have, the more likely all of the issues can be isolated and dealt with. :)
