For those of you who played Frontier: First Encounters (and possibly earlier versions of Elite, I'm not sure as that is the only other version I've played), you may remember the newspapers which came out each month. There were several different papers, but one of the more amusing ones was Random Intergalactic Gossip or R.I.G... I just think it would be a nice touch to bring back R.I.G. and perhaps some of the other papers that existed in the FFE galaxy. I know each system has a bunch of papers and there's GalNet but they seem to report mostly on changing states of factions and systems and community goals. It would be nice for something a bit more light-hearted and fun, random stories about all sorts goings on in the galaxy. I remember one issue was a classified dating column which had some amusing adverts. Perhaps players could even contribute articles?

Heh. I remember one in FFE was something to do with 'Grecian Tendencies'.... Although it wasn't just a dating column, there were other things too but I can't remember any nor can I find any images in google. There a couple of issues in the papers about some dreamware race iirc. Definitely think something like that would make the galaxy more alive and real. Would be good for immersion too.
