I am going to assume I have this wrong, as empirical data (my ship stats) say so. I thought that with the current engineering system, the stat increases/decreases were fixed, so a fully upgraded G5 module (ie with 5 ticks in the engineering screen and "This modification has been completed") would always yield precisely the same amount of stat change.
But, as I look at my ship[1], compared to an identical build on Coriolis[2] there are some differences in the G5 engineered components (e.g. the hull reinforcements). When I drill down, I see that my build has "random", whilst the other has "100%".
So I am assuming there must be some amount of randomness with engineered components. I've tried googling a couple of different word combos, but my google-fu is failing me - please can someone explain what's going on please?
