rank requirements on missions (as implemented now)

when i think about this it makes sense in the first 5 seconds, but later on and when i actually play the game... i dunno, its simply frustrating.

my main playing field are the missions in this game, sometimes its hauling stuff around, sometimes i go on kill missions or hunt pirates. earlier on this was never a problem, but now more often or not i run against the rank requirement wall, which is frustrating as hell.
besides the system pushes earnest traders into the smuggler business, since smuggling is the only way to do profitable transport missions nowadays... 250k smuggling mission? "no problem, here you go".
100k legid cargo haul? "nope, go away, you are not elite."
not that it is hard to smuggle stuff anyways, but i don`t like beeing forced to do only certain stuff, if i want to make some decent profit.

sometimes even small payouts like 40k need tycoon and up to be able to accept.

pirate hunt missions are easier, take 140k mission + bounties, not bad, but on the other hand you could make even more with 400k missions, but wait no... "go away, you are not elite."
if it were missions that i know i wouldn`t be able to do them, cause i lack the equipement, it would make sense, but i know those missions are easy as hell, but a ranking system tells me "nope". its just a generic and dull try to give the whole ranking a meaning, instead of implement actually meaningful missions that are worth what payout they are offering.
but taking a mission and say "ok, we make a low rank mission and ask for 5 pirate kills and we make an elite mission that asks for 10 pirate kills" finished, now rank restrictions make sense...

this whole system starts to add more and more frustration, especially when i look at my ranking and i don`t see it increase by one bit.
i didn`t care too much about the ranks so far and as long as i am not forced to grind them, they are fine to me (i know some people like to grind those things in games), but as soon as it becomes mandatory to grind them, so i can return to my usual playstyle before the patch, without seeing half of my missions locked behind some rank system, i start to feel cheated.

especially if it is only due to a generic system and not actual equipement or skill required...

Solution: Don't do missions, just haul massive loads of cargo and sell it. 300k+ profits per run with a Type 6. No smuggling required.

I agree.

I have a feeling that we have been left with unfinished design ideas that are just coming to completion. Much like the 10% module sell penalty FD probably wanted rank requirements for missions from the start but for some reason never got around to implementing it until now. This leads to frustration because players don't have as much freedom to access missions as they used to until they reach the specified rank.

From what I have seen in recent updates the developers are spreading themselves too thin and don't have enough time to correctly finish the smaller features, it's all patch work, a quick slap of a sticky note reading "To finish later". Just think about the 10% module penalty, there were plenty of ways to implement a cost to outfitting but FD just slapped 10% onto it without any depth and were forced to remove it due to complaints. It's similar here, FD just slapped Rank requirements onto missions which gives us trading missions that are valued so low but need a high rank to accept. I'm certain they will balance it eventually but I fear what other tweaks/updates to features will be if they keep developing the way they do.

As I have said before this game was released too early. There are so many features that FD are still changing to be closer to how they envisioned them from the start, which is leading to players having restrictions placed on them that they didn't have before because FD didn't or couldn't finish features before release.

That's my opinion anyway.

I FIND THAT IF YOU TAKE A LOWER RANK MISSION THEN SOMETIMES THE HIGHER RANKED ONE'S WILL BE OFFERED AT YOUR LEVEL

While I get the general idea, I utterly fail to understand why some missions require a certain explorer rank to deliver something to populated space. Completely hatstand.
