i need some help with ranking up, all the videos etc i seam to find are for previous versions and its all clear as mud.

i spent an hour last night doing about 16 missions carting crap here there and everywhere along with finding beer, super conductors, transporting data, assassination missions so a real mix, (admittedly no mining) but after handing in all the mission my rank only improved from 14% to 17%

all the missions i chose were in a new Empire system for minor factions who's allegiance was with the Empire

i am currently lord, should it really take this long?

i just want a clipper [sad]

In order to get my Clipper/Baron rank, I took my Asp to Fehu and took a lot of secret data delivery missions for the Empire. While you are there, if you have some cargo racks (80t is enough) take some smuggling missions for the money.

I did all my ranking to Baron in Xi Wangar, it always gave me a healthy mixture of Charity and Transport missions, the variety stopped my brain from melting.

Oh word of caution, don't believe the hype of the Clipper ... I was totally unimpressed, it's clearly not everyone's cuppa tea!

yeah Robigo & Fehu are regular haunts, i seamed to get more rank there but im sick of smuggling and the whole stacking missions is quite annoying when you only have limited time to play. Sometimes id get lucky and stack 15 missions, others it would be slim pickings and id have to fly out with 2 or 3 missions as my allotted game time would start to wind the other half up if i waited for more.

So nipping around systems fits my time poor agenda but If i only get a couple of hours a week im not going to be Barron until Christmas at this rate

I got one when the rank restriction was dropped when Avril Lavigne became Emperor. I had it and outfitted it, took it for a spin and decided that it sucked so bad, that I owned it for a grand total of a day! I am sure there are folk who love it and those folk will have a different flight style to me, but for me it was a bit poo.

Having a new baby in the house certainly eats into my free time :) But still.. lack of time can be a big problem with this game.. nothing worse than having 10 missions stacked and not being able to complete them because of real life matters getting in the way... and watching them expire. My constant struggle is with time. Example: I hop on knowing I have 1 hour to then find the mission board lacking in any decent options. I can sit there and play the re-log game... wasting 15 minutes of my precious game time.. or I can just grab whatever is on the list that I know I can complete in time. Frankly, I'm not putting many hours into ED lately. Maybe a couple hours mid-week, a couple more on the weekend. Ranking up in such a scenario is a very long term goal. I somehow managed to get to ~70% Count.. still a bit to go yet. I won't be buying a Cutter for a while simply due to credits.. but I am ok with that. I'm enjoying my semi-recently acquired Anaconda. I was able to churn for credits and get the conda just before the baby arrived. Thinking ahead for what ship I wanted to sit in for a good long while.

I went from Knight to king in three days doing nothing but charity missions in Cubeo - all 1201 of them! Get some good movies to watch while you're doing it, but be careful, it gets very exciting at times, like when you hit that bulletin board button and see as many as 4 charity missions come at at once. It's just like Christmas or winning the lottery. The anticipation and tension each time you hit that button becomes unbearable at times - much more exciting than Robigo runs with the same NPCs doing the same thing each time to try and stop you.

I really should start grinding again to get toward my Cutter...not to mention the ability to rebuy my Clipper if I do something horribly stupid with her (great mining ship, IMHO...she works nicely for exploring too, and is very photogenic as long as I don't do anything stupid like not paying attention and boosting into an asteroid 10kly away from my start point :( ).
