I've had 2 missions now to gain the first rank in the imperial navy (outsider) and having completed both still have no rank :/ anyone else had any similar issues?

Currently the situation with those missions are that you are not getting the full exp to lvl up your rank but instead getting partial credit which requires multiple missions to finish them. I had that for squire and lord rank in the empire for a while.
Well idk if there is a problem, but i seemed to rank up just fine with the empire..
I've got a similar question, how do you FIND progression missions? I'm deep in Empire Space (or so my Galaxy Map tells me) at a system controlled by the "Empire Party." Another local faction is the "Imperial Party." So far I've just been doing cargo missions for both of the aforementioned parties, and become friendly with them. However, it has done very little to increase my rep with the actual Empire, and I've seen no way to progress in the Imperial Navy. Any advice would be helpful.

im ranking up fine in the federation(when I find the missions) yet it took him 6 to get midshipmen and like 4 to make cadet, whereas I got cadet in 1)

The best place for empire rank up missions is Tamar, Gould Port. They spawn 3-5 at a time all the time

The rank progression missions, no matter who they are for, are randomly given once you reach the appropriate level of rep with the major faction. You will gain rep with the minor reactions quicker than you will in the major faction. Once you have maxed out your minor faction rep in a system you should move to a new system and start again. This will give you the best return for the time you invest. Just remember that you can lose rep if you take actions against the minor factions IE shooting one of their ships
