Ranking with Major Factions and standings in 1.3

Hello everyone. I have searched the forums but have not found the answer to this one. I hope that one of the developers answers it.

If a player is Allied or Friendly with Federation and has a Rank of Post Commander (has all the permits to systems associated with it) and then decides to go on a killing rampage and changes standing from Allied to Hostile, will that player loose his rank as a Post Commander (or be demoted a rank lower) and loose system permits as well? Let's assume that the player becomes WANTED and remains WANTED in Federation with a HUGE bounty as well.

The reason that I am asking this question is because I have a plan. I am Friendly with the Federation and have a rank of Post Commander. I am also Friendly with Alliance and have Allioth permit. I want to go and hunt all Federation and Alliance players once 1.3 is live. By having their system permits, there is no place for them to hide. Moreover, being a Post Commander in Federation, I will be able to get the Federal Corvette once it releases. I do not care, if I won't be able to land on Federation station to buy the ship. I am an Alpha backer and have Shinrarta Dezhra permit (it is independent) to buy it. As of now, Shinrarta Dezhra carries all the ships (provided that a player has the appropriate rank to buy Imperial Clipper and Federal Dropship)

To all Empire commanders out there - get the system permits for Alliance and Federation by grinding for them in 1.2. Infiltration is the key to success!

All in all, do I still get to keep my Post Commander rank with Federation, as well as my Federation system permits in 1.3 once Federation and Alliance are hostile ( and I have a HUGE bounty on my head? (I will continue to be allied with the Empire and I won't be committing crimes in the Empire space)

Thank you for your responses! :)

PS Did anyone try this in 1.2? That is, did anyone ever loose their ranking or system permits in 1.2? ( by going from Allied or Friendly to Hostile and WANTED?_

You can lose ranks by doing things the factions don't like, so eventually you could end up losing the Post Commander rank. I've never lost a system permit, despite having lost ranks at one point or another. However, I've never gone as far as Hostile to any faction. I want to think that once they're earned, you can't lose them, since they're a 'mission reward' of sorts, but I could be wrong.

Valethar...Could you please give me a specific example on how you lost your ranks? For example, did you go from Post Commander to Ensign, etc. I am only taking about Major factions. Thank you

At one point, while I was working on trying to rank up to Allied with all 3 factions, I lost about half of my Fed ranks because of some buggy assassination missions. I never lost access to the systems I had permits for though, which is what makes me think they're permanent.

I seem to recall getting booted all the way back down to CPO from Lieutenant Commander when it happened.

Thank you Valethar for your response. This is a confirmation that a player can loose a standing with a major faction. I do not think it will change in 1.3. You helped me out a lot. Now, I will think twice about committing crimes in Federation once 1.3 is live. I think that the Empire will have best faction specific ships anyway (as they do now.. Clipper vs Federal Dropship). I am sure that Mr. Braben being an Empire fan is not a coincidence :)

I've been trying to keep myself out of trouble until all of the ships are released, though that may become more difficult with 1.3. I want to be able to buy the ones I like, and then once I have them all... Well, all bets are off for two of the three factions. :D

I like your thinking! What major faction are you? I am for the Empire. I am keeping myself out of trouble because 1.3 is when the real game begins. I am afraid that if I get hostile status now, it might somehow mess things up in 1.3 for me. I have over 500 mil in assets (grinding - trading for 3 months from cobra to type 6 , to type 9, and then Anaconda) Tried all the ships. Settled on Clipper for PVP ( I am only interested in PVP). The reason I settled for Clipper is because it is so fast. I could not catch players (if they run away, and run away they do, once their shields are down). I could not catch anyone in Anaconda, Python, and Federal Dropship. Fer De Lance is not to my liking because of the it's weak powerplant as well as me being bad with fixed weapons). It has also abysmal jump range and it is slower than Clipper. I have mirrored armor and hull packages on my Clipper, as well as all A grade modules except for life support and sensors. For me, the fight begins when the shields drop. Clipper's weapons are weak ? No problem... ram with it !

Federal Corvette ? Probably will be another version of Anaconda... too slow to catch anyone. I only use my Anaconda for trading (Palladium and Imperial Slaves) Watching Netflix and making 5 mil an hour LOL.
