Ranks in Factions?

Hello, I was wondering if FD plans to change how they worked. I'm sure I'm not the only one who find it strange that we can progress in both the Federation and the Empire since it's a military rank. I tried to find some answers in the forum but I didn't.

So, I was wondering if someone has an answer (with the source), meaning will it change/evolve especially with the 1.3 coming or it's in standby for now. (I believe also you can achieve the highest rank in both faction and turn hostile to them without loosing it and the perks it gave: permit/ships buying)

They're [unfortunately] keeping the Empire and Federal ranks separate from the Powers in 1.3

(which is not to say that you're actions won't have an affect on it)

Hold on, are you saying the Imperial Navy is not the main sponsor and benefactor when it comes to bolster the Federal fleets with shiny new ships? Surely this can't be, they have granted titles to many Federal Loyalists in the process, to cherish forever!

( As a faction player, this is like some sort of parody. I'm pinching myself every day, just to be sure this is not some kind of weird dream. Thank you so much for bringing this up. )

Edit: Might add that there is nothing much to discuss here, since the Status Quo will be utterly convenient for many. Until the end of time most likely. And yet, most will on some level know this is the biggest plot hole since the discovery of Cygnus-X1. But they also want their shinies without having to worry about how and why. Even though that's exactly what they should do, in any kind of operational universe. IMHO. Sorry for harping on this, but we don't have de facto factions in this game under this incomplete and barebones skeleton of a system that were obviously not meant for any kind of dynamic universe with moving pieces in play.

Right, I'll shut up now, and be a good compliant Federal Navy supporter! Carry on!

Ranks are pictured as "Military" ranks, if it was civilian it will be as strange but at least more logic. But for the moment it's like being a ranked officer in the army of 2 different country. (China & USA for example, pretty strange :s)

I'm afraid you're right, it's sad.
