[/RANT] What the? [Rant]

First off... im so close to uninstalling this game and being done with it, its not even funny. I really do feel like ive ploughed so much time into a broken game i might as well just call it quits now

So, ive ground out just over 100 million in trading. Worked my way up to a Type 9 going through all the ships on the way.

Ive made about 300k in bounties to put that into perspective. Yes, i have just spent the last couple of weeks as that guy with a white van in space. Was it boring? Very, very boring. It got so boring that i usually trade while watching netflix on another screen. I found myself watching old crap ive watched several times. Ive hauled well over 100,000 tonnes of cargo.

As a beta player i get access to Jameson memorial, which grants me 10% discount on ship purchases. The first ship i bought here was the ASP. By the way, that 10% discount thats advertised, and shown on screen during purchase... yeah thats bugged. The ships cost full price.

Asp 6.somthing mil
Type 7 17.7 Mil
Python 57 mil
Type 9 77 mil.

These prices are guestimates, i really dont want to launch ED to get accurate prices, but these are the ships ive purchased here and lost my discount on. Thats around 16 MILLION credits ate by a bug that was reported during gamma. Why was this not fixed for release? Was it simply due to the fact that people who had access to this had already been parted with their hard earned and the new stream of sucke.... ahem customers wouldnt get that function anyway?

Anyway... last night i was grinding and watching Netflix repeats, my sights set on the anaconda.
Ive got an upgraded T9 and almost 30m credits. another 20 or 30 and i can take another look at the anacondas price and grind more to take into account the fact -10% is far to hard an equation for the shipyard to fathom.

Next thing i know, im having a religous experience right there in my cockpit, as Jesus turned water to wine and bread to fish, my holiday miracle turned my 500ton of performance enhancers worth around 3.7 million into animal meat. Yay.

After logging off and back on my cargo was returned and i was able to sell it, accept the damn market forgot to actually pay me. Fantastic. so my losses are now in the region of just short 20 million credits due to bugs/errors or otherwise out of my control.

Today I hear of a fix, a user created one of course as as usual no one from CS or frontier has even acknowledged what the issue is.

I sold a cargo rack and re bought it, this resets the cargo apparently and your good to go. Except once again, it didnt credit me for the sale of the cargo rack. To be fair, this one is on me, the part if my brain in control of reasoning and logic must have been out to lunch and the rest blindly believed frontier cant screw it that bad can they? Yes folks i sold the first rack i came to, the 256 ton one, yes, the 3.4m credit one.

So, im now 23.4 million ish down due to bugs and glitches.

Chin up, carry on, no point getting demoralised i thought, so first venture out of the station, 500t of performance enhancers on board (3.7ish mil) Docking at my destination with power to shields, i find it slows the ship quicker than the throttle for some reason, probably another bug.

A sidewinder, the starter ship, crashed straight into my Type 9. Instead of bouncing off as you would expect, my ship is destroyed!

A sidewinder!

Looking at the insurance screen, cargo gone and it wants 3.5 million to give me my ship back. FOR heaven's SAKE FRONTIER

Im now down just over 30 million due to bugs and errors out of my control. 30 freaking million. Oh yeah, if i had that, i could maybes just squeeze into that anaconda i WAS aiming for.

A buddy of mine just asked for my opinion on the game half way through writing this, i told him, it has potential to be something great but at the minute its so broke it you wouldnt want to play it. When i told him about the bugs that eat credits or in some occasions randomly give players 4 billion credits, he told me he would give it a miss. At least i feel as if ive done my duty as a friend instead of sending him balls deep into a piranha pond.

Anyway, hope these issues will be fixed before release.... oh wait.

As ive told people who ask me. What can i say, im not telling them to buy it tbh. I tell them the truth, it maybe worth buying in 12 months time.

So you have ticketed all these bugs so that there is a chance that FD can fix them and reimburse you yes?

Certainly have, the discounts id wrote off, too eager to wait for compo, id rather just crack on while i was motivated. Hopefully they get around to fixing them so other people can enjoy the game for what it can be, when its fixed.

Ah man I really hope they reimburse your losses somehow? Not sure If that's been done before.
Either way I enjoyed the read though!

Thanks, i wouldnt hold much hope for reimbursement, ranting helped quite a bit though, hopefully it makes for an entertaining read and as a cautionary tale of sorts?

To be fair, im sure i will be back in a few days with or without the credits.

They have reimbursed before, hopefully with the tickets open they can fix the problems (I think there have been quite a few like this so it should be obvious) and get you some cash back.

Sorry to hear about this. I have lost out at the Founders World. Quite a bit, I ticketed but I didn't have exact details because I did not notice until a week later. I had bought and sold ships and parts there without realising. Whether we all get refunded is beyond me.

On a side note, I have a friend that told me that he made about 160mil last night. You know... perfectly fair and all... lol... I think FD have messed up a bit here. What on earth will they do to fix this fairly and correctly? An acknowledgement would be a start from them.. but no word at all!

Honestly, I laughed at that. Never heard it put that way before.

Had a friend ask me about it also, he's seen me playing. Told him might want to hold off til after the holidays when FD gets off vacation, cause there's been some weird bugs creeping about. Haven't seen any myself, but always keep the can of raid beside my computer and shake it menacingly every once in a while just to keep them away.

sry for your looses.
I think you try to hard. You should have enjoy the game with everything it offers instead working for money with boring tradings to get the largest ship. What will you do with the largest ship? It will just be boring because then there is nothing after.

The Sidewinder crash is interesting. Since some days or sience I updated my Cobra shield ot the best I can't touch anything without going boom. That's why I parke dit and fly with the sidewinder now. It became to risky (80% of my deads was because something touched me in my cobra not even head on)
~
In the sidewinder however I can fly into anything I like it will not even get a scratch. And I am not jokeing. I fly in the heave conflict zone hitting on that large capital ship since I figured out it is simple too kill but I still like it (can't bear trading) and gives me good money. About 600 to 700k in 1 hour which is more than fine for me.
~
My largest ship is still a Cobra. But the fun I had is so much more than what you had with your grinding. sry to say I don't get why ppl so hard try to get to the largest ship as possible.
It's not that you then can enter an endgame content like in mmo's as much as I know.

I didn't read all of your post for a few reasons, the main one being that I'm a bit lazy and another being I don't have tons of free time, slow reader etc. But I'm just curious as to why you traded for so long if you found it so boring, why not raise money in the game doing more fun stuff? if your reason is because you wanted the cash faster then what is the great rush? I think that if you don't enjoy the game in the smaller and cheaper ships chances are things won't change all that much once you're flying a type-9 or an anaconda.

Yeah, ive played games where they get better over the years, this one could be a gem. So many variables in this game must make for a nightmare time tracking bugs down.

That's sure must be painful - this is why I'm not touching trading. Not now not ever.

Will take a while to grind out the new ships though wont it? I figured id get the grind done first and when im rich, learn to bounty hunt so i could afford to take the hits from random losses. Hmmm it dont sound to different to trading actually.

Losing the credit is a pain. Not knowing when it will happen again is a game breaker. I cant bring myself to log on and spin the wheel to see if a random bug will wipe out a days grind.

Hopefully you ticketed all of this. See what FD will do to help before uninstalling.

Yeah its all ticketed, and have begun the holding of breath.

Just saying you have your whole rant backwards, its supposed to be [Rant]****[/Rant]

Frontier style.

I can understand your frustrations. I'm loving the game too, but to be honest it does still feel like a Beta with the errors.
There really shouldn't be these issues with a finished game.
On the flip side it's not finished and I'm sure there will be a whole load of work going into making it bigger and better.
The errors are annoying, but the future is bright.
Hang in there buddy.

I do enjoy the game, flying all the different ships is great, the Python and Cobra are my favourites so far and i cant wait to be more or less done with trading. Im fairly certain ill settle on a Python but i just have to try everything. I have the oculus rift too so the first thing i do when purchasing a new ship is have a good look around the cockpit. Be nice if some of them had a valet before being sold though, the eagle was the only ship that was clean!

When you look at the scale of the grind though, it makes more sense in the long term from my perspective to get the "hard grind" out of the way. My total losses have been accrued over time, the tipping point being blown out of the sky by a head on with a sidewinder.

As much as im ranting about it now, ill be strapped back in later on no doubt about it. Elite is like that ex you really shouldnt be going back to as its hard to explain the bite marks to family, but you just really cant help it.

Yea that sidewinder really shouldn't of survived, let alone kill you!
Hopefully you'll get your credits back, others have.
.
I agree with Perjoss though, if you find trading so boring after a while then if I were you I'd just stop doing it 4 a bit, or vary the routes, or try some rare trading/gallivanting around the galaxy ;) ........... or buy a python, strip it out & ram every NPC sidewinder you see coming out of a station! :D
