Your Feature Request / Idea
I want to offer constructive criticism on this subject and not pull any punches but I’m not going to disrespect the devs.
The skin colors for the raptors are extremely underwhelming. Even comparing their skins to the other dinosaurs the problem becomes even more apparent. Out of all the dinosaurs in evolution, the raptors should have had their movie skins. At the least the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World skin patterns. With the former belonging to the original raptors and the latter belonging to the Raptor Squad. At the bare minimum for the Raptor Squads case, Blue’s skin pattern should be an option in the game. Especially given her prominent appearances in the marketing for the Jurassic World trilogy starting with Fallen Kingdom, and being on the covers of the 5 film blu-ray bundle and the blu-ray steel box cover.
Given this knowledge or realization you then ask the question “Why didn’t they put the raptor movie skins in the game?”. As I previously stated, comparing the raptor skins to the other dinosaurs skins, it becomes apparent given the fact that the dinosaurs featured in the first movie(which the raptors were in) have their original Jurassic Park movie skin color except the raptors. Those being the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Brachiasaurus, Dilophosaurus, and Gallimimus all have their movie skins. This is perplexing. This same pattern follows to The Lost World, Jurassic Park 3, Jurassic World, and Fallen Kingdom. With each and every dinosaur in the game that was featured in any of the movies they have their movie skin or at the least base movie skin except the raptors.
Now, which raptor skin patterns should be featured in the game? ALL OF THEM. My personal favorite raptors are The Lost World Tiger Raptors. I absolutely love their design and skin pattern. However, even though I have a personal bias towards that skin pattern, I understand and realize the raptor skins are something that really showcases the shear diversity of this dinosaur, that we as an audience have seen throughout the films. I also understand and realize, someone else may not like the tiger raptor skins. They may like the raptor Echo’s skin pattern, and that is fine. The skin pattern they like deserves to be showcased alongside the skin pattern I like. I also noticed that the raptors skulls have different designs from one movie to the next, and I can understand if one skin pattern would take priority over the others, because then we’re talking about models. Models with which they would have to tweak, so I’m not going to assume how long it would take, but I know it would take time.
Frontier, you stated that in your game, all the dinosaurs are female except the Indoraptor, and in the movie canon the raptors with the tiger skin pattern are males. In my game I have given dinosaurs(not just raptors) male names. So in my in-game head canon, I have male dinosaurs, and I am 100% sure other players have done the same. Another point I would like to make staying on the topic of male raptors, are ones in Jurassic Park 3. I originally thought how it would be hard to implement this skin pattern in the game, due to this particular raptor having quils, but then I realized the Indoraptor has quils. So please, I implore you Frontier, don’t say you can’t implement these things when you can because these issues don’t matter to the fanbase.
Lastly, I would like to touch on microtransactions/dlc regarding skin pattern implementation. Some may agree with this, and others may disagree but I offer this as only an option. An option that keeps the customer in mind. If raptor skins won’t or can’t be implemented freely due in part to the issue regarding resources, and that resource being funding aka money, this could help. If people don’t want to purchase it then obviously they have that option. For those that do, having the full array of raptor skins to choose from, you could offer the skins individually. In that way, it gives the player the choice to select which skins they want and which ones they don’t. The second purchase method is bundles. There could be an Original Trilogy Bundle, and a Jurassic World aka Raptor Squad Bundle. With this, people still have the ability to choose whether they want the original trilogy skins, or the new trilogy skins. The final option is the all inclusive bundle, where instead of buying the skins individually, if someone wants all of them they can purchase them for one price. All of these purchase options would have to be implemented simultaneously, so the customer/consumer still has a choice.
I sincerely hope the devs see this and that my wish to implement the various skins in the series will come to fruition.
Thank you Frontier for your hard work.
