Raptors, Herding and Sleeping.

So to finally put this to rest this is what is happening in the game. There is NO arguing if you agree/disagree with it, this is how the game is going to be. Yes not everyone will ag sree with it or love it, or hate it but this is how it is. Any arguing will be instantly blocked. This is a friendly thread to give some Non rumored information.

Raptors are going to be able Stalk their prey in heards, they WILL be doing a turn based attack system, where they go one at a time. This was the decision frontier did and more than likely has to do with time constraints, but at least it is something.

Dinosaurs will be able to herd, They can socialize in groups and also walk together in heards, this has been seen in numerous videos.

Carnivores can also be seen running and killing prey as well as in the new short video that was released today.

Sleeping dinos do not exist sadly. Anytime we see something laying down it is either Tranquilized or Sick.

Feel free to add anything that is new information that people should know.

Dromeasaurids can not coexist together. Velociraptors and Deinonychus will not from mixed-species packs. It would be cool if they did though, I do understand the decision however.

I don't understand why people are so hysterical about the raptors ability to hunt in packs and travel in packs myself. This video is from October 2017 and in the first 7 seconds of the videos you can see three raptors moving in a pack with an obvious leader at the front who was in the close up shot. First it runs off and then two others follow it over the hill.

Then you have the 3 Raptors chasing the Trike 1:10 mark in the video. Again this was from October.

I loved in the video how as soon as it was released it went to establish dominance, I want to know if it is released with something bigger if it will try that too.

I think maybe not, we've seen it coexist with the metriacanthasaurus in the preorder trailer, the possibility is still there though

I wonder how you would be able to make them more ''peaceful''. I like the idea of social carnivores that are wiling enough to at least stop picking
fights with every carnivore they see that often leads to death. I would like to see carnivores sometimes participate in rough ''play fighting'' since I
would imagine some carnivores wanting a fight that doesn't always end in a death.

I am petty sure that in one of the videos they were talking about how you cna play with the genes to make them less willing to fight, The same way you can make them more agressive.

I heard that too. The gen system it's going to be the best of the game (Probably).

I can't wait for this game... but I disconnect a bit everytime I see the "Gathering circles" of dinos and they all look at each other like old people in a small village. There's gotta be a more realistic socializing behavior for this incredible game. I'd like to see some pushing and little skirmishes ( like bullying cows) , grooming each other, side by side instead of awkward facing each other. They look like they're plotting their escape... I LOVE the circling intimidation posture for carnivore confrontations!! Well done!! And... I still wish all dinos could rest under shade of trees... like any animals in the world, and in JW in Gyro valley... oh well..

Hi everyone, with regards to the dino AI and herding comments: Dinosaurs behave as individuals, although species share characteristics and so will often be found engaged in the same activities and in the same areas (for socializing or feeding). Dinosaurs also respond to nearby dinosaurs in a number of ways, such as fleeing from a predator or panicking if another panicked dinosaur runs nearby, which can cause a chain reaction in a busy enclosure.
I'll also reiterate again, that there's loads going on in the game and we are excited for its launch in a few days, but of course we are continuing to look at your feedback and will take this into future consideration (so not for launch, but in future patch), especially with regards to recurring feedback. Thanks for the continued support and understanding!

Thanks Bo.

So Again a NO to Herding. If they move together it is a coincidence or was planed and recorded for videos to look good.

Once again i was right.

After all the insults and accusations I was lying and misleading people. The behavior turns out to be exactly what I said.

Some people owe me an apology. Again.

Hahaha do not hold your breath. You were right from the start; not to mention the people that owe you an apology have blocked you.

Awesome response BO . I am even more excited for this game now. I thought I saw in videos that they ran away when one of their friends was attacked. Happy I was right :D

I think the game will just be released too soon. It would have taken them 3 - 6 months more time to make the game what it should be now.
But Universal is probably making pressure on the devolpers for making the game to come out in the period of the release of Fallen Kingdom.

Universal also came to Frontier after Jurassic World was released 3 years ago.
I believe that it is very difficult to program a game of this complexity and scale from scratch in just 3 years.

It indeed sounds like the "herds" are more a coincidence than a simulated animal behaviour. Why not use some kind of a alpha-animal-system, where one dinosaur gets randomly picked as the leader of a group, which contains a certain number of animals of the same species. Now all those animals in that group will simply follow the example of a leader, if he eats relaxed from a feeder or drinks, all the other animals do such activities. If the alpha decides its time to change location all the other animals of his group will simply follow her.
I guess that would be something the AI should manage and it would look like there are one or multiple herds in one enclosure.
