Rare goods & Fleet Carriers

I wasn't sure whether this was best placed here, or in the beta section. However, am sure the mods will point it in the right direction.

I thought it was politic to put a little post together about one aspect that here at Hutton, is very close to our hearts.
A little bit of backround, Hutton Orbital Truckers build a LOT of in game events, so this post might have a little bias towards player groups and events.
Many of the open community events that we create are based around rare goods - mainly as "Hutton Space" has 4 of them in but also as they add a little bit of richness to the game. Who doesn't love a Momus Bog Spaniel, or tucking in to a Mokojing Beast Feast on a Friday night with a nice beer.

Basics of this post is to politely present the case for why rares+fleet carriers would be a good thing.

The current event (just finishing), over 300 pilots have spent 3 months delivering a Hutton Mug to every station in the galaxy. It has been an awesome undertaking and over 50000 stations have been visited across the period.
The previous one, we organised a race around the galaxy in 80 Waypoints

A few gameplay ideas related to the carriers and rares
1. Hutton Specific
Being able to t-bag a fleet carrier with mugs and use them for events and silliness as a group
Loading a fleet carrier up with each of the rares
Providing mug supplies to Colonia and other locations as part of events

2. Thargoid specific
Whilst there is a challenge to collecting the UA/UP etc on your own, there is something to be said for being able to fly a stock of them out over a Thargoid "base" and using the stock to allow players who haven't yet opened the structure to do so and see the phenomenal lightshow it generates when activated

3. The EIC
There's a player group dedicated to having a stock of rare goods, especially for those wanting to unlock engineers

4. Hutton convoy mid-point reloading facility

5. Other stuff we haven't thought about yet

Pitfalls
We fully understand that it is open to exploitation as it bypasses things like the game mechanic related to obtaining your own rares. HOWEVER, we feel that anything that introduces or supports multi-player interaction is a good thing (even if from solo but on a carrier visit). The engineer mechanic for unlocking is old, and this, through player action and in a manner that gives fleet carrier owners the income they so want to support them provides a reason to go to one and interact with it, supporting the new content>

Also, the current "price is at highest when 150LY from source" means that it could be exploited from a moneymaking standpoint (though I've tried to wrap my head around how). Once again, whilst people COULD load a ship up with rares, fly it 500ly away and then offload them for profits, we feel that the work involved in fuelling, jumping and loading the fleet carrier up likely provides a reasonable credits/hour effort balance that means this isn't a problem.

Summary
We'd LOVE rares to be included in the possible cargo and trade for the carriers, whether that be storage of your own, or as part of the market. It would open up fun for a number of the groups, and unless there's a trick I'm totally missing, I think the pitfalls aren't a problem.

If you reckon you agree (or disagree), would love to hear your feedback, but as with many Hutton things - if the salt can be left at the door and the snark slain before posting, would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks all!

I whole hearted agree rares should be allowed on carriers, if your gonna take a carrier to beagle point you will need a lot of onionhead!, And gin, forthemug, just don't let Cecil on the carrier if there is gin on it.. it has a habit of disappearing.

This will allow carriers to be a content enabler!

The rares are a fun aspect of the game and would be essential for a Hutton convoy!

Fdev are so scared of allowing players to do things that forget to add things for them to do as well

Never did the Hutton run but thought if it might be possible to chain FC the whole route to make a racing track? Probably not, but hey why the hell not.
Don't worry, tho, I flew my share of 50 or so minutes from one Star to another in normal space to see what happens. I tried to reach the Polaris. I climbed mountains and followed the commander's journey who tried to land a SRV at a space station. It's just that I find a station out that far inconvenient - that's how I am: nudge me and I say: No.

I won't nudge you - but on the "rares on fleet carriers" (not just mugs) - is that an un-nudged "yes"?

lol not just a mug (and I thought I was mug-obsessed!) the general principle of rares so we can build fun events ;-)

I too would love to see rares storage allowed. Gotta make sure I have a long term supply of Indi Bourbon aboard. I might get thirsty. And how rude would it be if I didn't have any spare to share with my guests?

Please add my support for carrier rares storage.

Think of all the happy NPCs who would be able to browse the marketplace in T' Ravelling Rares Collection Carrier.
(Prices may go up as well as down.)
{Hmmm? Wonder how that would work?}
Every day? it jumps to another system that sells rares, buys as much as players sell it and sells all the other rares?
