Rare Goods?

So using Inara I took a very long trip in my T7(Fav ship) to pick up some rare goods (Tiegfries Synth Silk) to sell and well just to make friends with the locals, was going to make a huge profit- as usual nothing there?
So does anything on these third party sites work right?

Yes. Seems you are doing it wrong.

If you read related web pages you will see:

  • Some rare goods may become unavailable if changes to controlling factions make the rare good illegal. It may appear that a particular good has been removed from the game, when in actuality, the rare good is still in the game code, it is just not for sale or listed until it becomes legal again.
  • The state of the factions in a system can also affect the supply of rare goods. Conflict states (war, civil war, election) will reduce production. Other states may also lower production: bust, civil unrest, lockdown, outbreak, expansion, and retreat. Boom may even temporarily increase production.
  • For these reasons the allocation levels and/or availability of rare goods can vary, the figures displayed may not always be correct.

I use Inara all the time and it's never steered me wrong yet.

I do not consider outdated data to be "steering me wrong", however. The data is based on data collected by people playing the game. For station and market data that means if people rarely visit the station the data could be quite old.

I recommend that you do your part and install EDMC and set it to update underlying data whenever you dock, it will help make sites like Inara more accurate. If you aren't already using it (or a similar tool), you are part of the problem that you are complaining about. :)

There are a few rares that sell for 16k+ profit and accumulate in large amounts at their producing stations (about 100-300 units). These are the only rares I bother with since the others are hard to acquire in any useful quantity.

I just run back and forth between these stations, making about 16 mill. profit per circuit. I'm not going to be more specific though as I don't want competition... ;)

Also, I highly agree with Jaggid Edje about the Elite Dangerous Market Connector tool. Unlike a lot of other tools it is very lightweight, and I use the overlay which allows great plugins like HITS or EDRecon to draw information right to my HUD.

Hey I'm willing to use what ever tool makes it not so much like work lol

If it is in a zip or rar file or the like, unpack it. Each plugin should be in it's own folder. Also make sure you install them to the directory reached by selecting "open" from the plugins tab of settings and not the plugins directory where EDMC is installed.

Question when you install the plugin you install the folder to the plugins folder or do you unpack it to it?
You need to create a new folder in the plugins directory for each plugin; this usually requires you to extract the .zip or .rar archive that you downloaded from the plugin's website.

In my plugins folder, I have separate folders for LandingPad, HITS, EDR, etc. Don't forget to install the EDMC overlay plugin also (same folder) if you want other plugins to be able to draw to the screen.

Once you restart EDMC with the plugins loaded, you'll have config tabs for some of them under EDMCs settings section.

Ok, that's what I thought but at least one is not in a nested folder in the plugins folder they are just in there- but they work. Just put one in for this topoic we'll see tonight if it's working or not :)

If you are interested in rare goods you might want to try Zoys booming rare goods app. It's a neat little tool. I would recommend trialing several trips round the Rares circuit just purely for the law and little coincidences.

Last time I was in Ngurii I picked up 400 tons of Soontil relics.
