General Rare items

Firstly thank you for creating ED , the best value for money of any game I have ever owned.

I’ve played now for years and still never get bored, but there is one thing that I really miss.

I know absolutely nothing about game development but it would seem that it wouldn’t be something that may not be too hard to introduce.

What I would love to see introduced is some system of “ rare item drops”

I enjoy most aspects of the game , mining , combat, exploration etc , but I do find myself feeling that before I even start I know exactly what to expect.

What I believe would make almost every activity feel a lot more exciting would be the potential for occasionally getting a random rare item, something that would be rare and unexpected.

For mining one could occasionally maybe mine and asteroids that dropped an incredibly valuable mineral, or a chunk containing a bunch of rare G 5 mats ( if it came as a chunk you could free up space in your material store if you needed to before opening it)

For combat may you could have some very rare ships that when destroyed dropped a cargo or a super hi value item or again a materials bundle, or even more rarely and more existing a schematic for a unique ship kit or paint job only available as a drop.

For exploration you could find almost anything without it feeling unrealistic, mats , hi value items , schismatics , even maybe abandoned ships that could be claimed and then ether kept or sold .

All if there random drops would make activities feel much more exciting and wouldn’t Ned to affect balance if the underlying rate that you would for example collect minerals while mining was adjusted accordingly so the overall value of the activity remained the same.

Further to this idea you could have some les random items that could be achieved though quest lines .
( I’m guessing a bit more difficult to implement)

One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most fo years in ED ( even with all the fantastic new content) was the mini quest to get the “ unclassified relics)

This kind of quest type gameplay is really rewarding and fun .
I recently jumped back into No man’s sky, just to do some quests that reward you with a head that’s a fish in a bole !
I mean a fish bole head ???
I didnt even really wat the stupid head !
I just real enjoyed following the quest and getting the rewards at the end .

Some game use this kind of thing to great effect, some WOW players grind for months or years just to get a cosmetics that makes absolutely no difference to there character.
But they love it ! Ed

Selling Rare goods is broken

Power point weekly task:

I loaded up 11 units of Rares from my Fleet Carrier into my freight ship, and sold them at a station in the specified system.

They were not counted. The counter remains at zero.

Oh, this is broken too:

Loads handed in, stays at zero.

The task says "Collect units of rare goods from their source market".

Some tasks are sensitive to storing. When PP 2.0 launched I heard talk that minerals stored on a carrier between mining and selling wouldn't count either. I cannot perdonally confirm that, but I bet you need to pick up fresh rares, not use old rotten ones stored on your carrier.

Oh and other than counting for the weeklies (when it works) rare trading still gives no merits.

Oh and regarding the exploration data: It doesn't matter what the page value reads. The individual system scans must be above a certain threshold to earn you merits (300k? 500k? Something like that). So if you sell 50 systems for 5 million with each system worth 100k, you get naught. If you sell one single system for 500k, you get your weekly counted.

Where do you think I got them from in the first place?
The problem is a bug caused by the Trailblazers update, according to my Powerplay power's Discord.
All merit earning from FCs is broken.
"Trailblazers nuked all merit earning from FCs
even from transfer menus"
