Rare Trading - Booooooooring!

Ok, It's 04.10h in the morning an I just watched a video on youtube about rares trading.

I'm a Bounty Hunter and I was about to buy an ASP to start trading a bit. But I have to say, after watching this video, I totally stick with BH!

Trading is sooooooooooo boring. Jesus!

I save my 8 Mio. Credits to get one of the new more fighter type ships coming with 1.2

So, now off to make some TechHouse music. Just got up at 03.00h and have a lot of E E E E ENERGY for my recent Remix.

Check out Riverside Studios Berlin!

I've made just 17m from bounty hunting and non-rares, non-3rd party tool trading. It's slow going but much more rewarding than mindlessly following a trail blazed by others or using 3rd party tools. But irrespective if how you choose to trade - fun, it isn't (for me).

You should try exploration I hear it's a blast!

Exoloring might be a blast on LSD and with a very good soundtrack on your ears, I suppose. Otherwise, ..... nope! Not really. As this is a procedurally generated game, it's like watching prOn, everything is the same after a few hours.

Lol good response but I was being very very sarcastic.

Yep. Agree. Prefer BH but the pay is bad. Only way to get the CR is to grind. Eddie Stobart not Han Solo, as someone observed. I have a Cobra for BH, warzones and missions, and a T7 for the boring grind to get some CR. Saving for a Vulture.

I've noticed that the rare trading doesn't mathematically add up. The same time (1 hour) it takes me in rare trades to earn 1,000,000 CR, I can earn twice that with high-end commodities such as Palladium and performance enhancers (getting 200,000 CR per round trip between two connecting systems with less than 1,000 LS to the ports). With the rares, yes the profit per unit is quite high -- however one star port generally only sells 1-10 of the items and you have to go dock at several star ports to fill your inventory costing a lot of time. With that said, I'm not sure exactly the purpose of the rares. At first I thought maybe it was for newbies to make a quick start in trading, but then I noticed that if they couldn't jump 20-30LY then it would even be harder for them than standard commodity trading. I get that the rares are easter eggs, but what I don't understand is why they aren't something that gives more reward for the time investment.

Never really run rare trade runs as such. The only times I've traded rares is when I'm on my way to some distant system anyway due to other reasons, maybe something mentioned by GalNet. At that point I might as well bring rares along for the ride.

Its ok...

With the changes in 1.2 piracy is pretty much dead.

With the new rules about stolen rare's, we will have to pirate then AND then fly off 120ly to trade them at a far away station.
So yeah not a huge issue.. but why bother?

Its will be easier and quicker and way more profitable to trade normally...

This will mean less pirates, so less bounties for hunters....

Trade... the zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Nice FD

Go bounty hunting in tanmark. There's a bounty hunting community goal and you are reward in cash and increased allowance of rares

Rares are usful when you only have cobra and to some extent asp. They supplement bh to get credits. Esp useful if looking at uograding asp or getting into vulture when arrives. More interesting than trading.

However a good quick route in t6 / asp prob just about pays more per hour. T7 and it trade only to get the credits. 2 to 3 mill an hour.

If bh your thing no need to go above viper and they are cheap as chips and rebuy is great if you want to bite of more than you can chew. Get ut wrong in an asp and you are looking 1mill rebuy for a medium spec.

+1 I used rares up to t6 (once I found out what they were and being a early beta player and not starting rares until early Jan thats some time) I started my rares and had a low spec cobra. worked up and did rares and regular trading until I had ~15m for my asp then did BH for fun and rares to get my clipper. Has taken hours and hours of play because damage in an asp or higher kills any BH profit quick. and damage in a clipper or above is way beyond anything a BH gets in general. my clipper can make 100k in about 20minutes of bounty hunting. but one bad spawn with an elite anaconda and a high ranking python or similar (often happens) and its for me was working out 10k for every 1% hull damage so thats 40k if I get interdicted and it does the typical glitch and ignore my submit to interdiction thing. up side is I can make ~ 750k in 20 minutes trading in my clipper so while I dont like trading so much I accept I need to and do it as needed to fund my combat time.

However if the modes get seperated I will leave the game, the point I was so keen on at purchase was the ability to swap between group and open at will. to play with mates only or play in open depending on what was the goal of the gaming session.

Rares are great at the start, as in "how to make the first serious amount with a small cargo hold and little money on me, and buy something I want".

After that, you can either go T-6 and make more money in normal trade, or use what you've earned to pimp your Viper/Cobra and go blasting.

That's the role of Rares.
