Rares route still viable

I haven't run any rare routes in a long time, so I have nothing to offer there. Slaves can be good, especially in ships with larger holds. If I were you, and I was using a T6, I'd take a look at running medicine or food to outbreak and famine systems. They won't pay as much as slaves, or some rares, but it's steady income. Those should earn you enough to start working towards something like a Python. The Python is where I really got into earning credits through trade.

This one should be still good. T6 will do perfectly fine for it! Watch yourself in the Core systems (Lave and around)

Thanks for the map - I will give it a go. Probably go on solo play to stop any pirates (chicken!!)

For the AI, I take it is still submit, boost, boost then jump?

I was looking to build up my cash pot and my merchant ranking - is this still a good way to go?

I have a T6 with 100tn

I find rares mixed with slaves work very very well, try Kimitra Cigars with probably some textiles one way and Slaves back the other, plenty of systems around Kimitra in the 25-40LY range prime for this (so you can switch it up when supply/demand runs dry)

Rares will always be viable. They're like gold in real life.

The blue route above. Doing that in a Cobra is what put me on my way to wealth and megastardom

Classic case of I really should have read the thing and looked at it properly, I'd give you rep for my stupidity but I have been rep happy it seems and can hardly offer anyone rep anymore. :) [up]

This thread makes me want to do some rares trading. Might spend the afternoon doing just that.

:)

3 hours for a 1.5 million profit. Nice profit but boring as hell. Going to go and build up my faction somewhere instead I think

RootsRat's map was good for me, still a grind but a reasonably fun grind as I was a newer player. Running rares is a good way to sharpen your docking and interdiction-evading skills while making so-so to decent profit with minimal risk. Some aspects (getting your total-buy limit) will definitely teach patience. I started running rares in a T-6, a good little ship with almost the same, great view out the canopy window as an Asp-X. Running that rares circuit was where I started earning my first decent credits in ED. o7

This might be a stupid question.....but you start in "Witchhaul".....and make the blue loop all the way back? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

No, it would be dumb to not do it because you didn't ask.

You can start in Witchhaul, sure. But it is a loop route, so technically you could start your run at any point in the loop.
