Rares was a complete waste of time, for me..

Am I doing it wrong? I only have a T6 but found some rares and bought as much as it would let me, jumped about 170 light years and only got 230k out of it..which I coulda done in 2 trades on my regular route..was so totally not worth the time/effort :\

Rares are usually better for smaller cargo capacity ships. Others do rare runs that leads them in a large circle that consists of buying rares from system to system and selling while buying more. It leads in a large circle that can be repeated. Usually when you get into the larger cargo capacity ships you can make more money on normal trade runs in the time allowed for the time/distance of a rare run.

Yeah you're doing it wrong. You take rares from 4-5 close stations, go 160+ LY away to another area where there are 4-5 close stations sell there, buy rares there, go back to your starting point. That's the idea in a Cobra.

For T-6 you do some grand circuit of 15-71 (some routes around here in the forum, 71 station route is more sightseeing with bonus profit really) stations or so, buying rares as you go and selling at the furthest station away. The idea is to always have your hold always at least half full of rares.

Both have profitabilty around 1M Cr / hr, an Asp can be higher at 1.5M Cr / hr (if you're lucky).

This is the route i ran when i was doing rares.

Go cluster to cluster... you can pick up 60-odd tonnes of rares from the systems around Lave (Lave, Diso, Leesti, Uszaa, Orrere and Zaonce IIRC) which is worth a few bob when you get them down to Zeessze. In a T6, you've got enough space that you can probably make more cash shifting jellied koalas and banjo strings from A to B. Rares trading is a nice change of pace though.
