Elite / Frontier Rate My Elite Music!

OK gang, here's the Jjagged Bbanner single:

Jjagged Bbanner - Black Star Soul

It was my first project of this type, and i enjoyed it a lot. Plenty of singing, and i even got the guitar out and dusted it down.

As ever, comments welcomed.

I was thinking it would be great to have a whole album's worth of JB music. The music could drift down from starport speakers while we are docked, played occasionally between news items on the galactic radio. I don't think any game yet has invented a band and recorded albums' worth of material for them. How i'd love to do that. We can but dream, eh?

I have to admit I was not too taking with the lyrics when I first heard to the song. But the the more I have listened the more it grows on me.:)

Really enjoyed that! I've listened to your original piece several times: very atmospheric. And Frontier do notice us: your piece got a name check (was it the Twitter thing?) a while back:)

Would love to see this. Any chance of a link? I have looked in the twitter blog linked in the memories thread but can't see anything there.

aargh...my short term memory loss! It was on a blog of some sort in the last few weeks...but there was a flurry of stuff with the 25th Anniversry so cant remember. I'll keep scratching my head Turwhitt.
Anyway, I'm sure Frontier will incorporate it into E4: say as the docking music at Turwhitt High coriolis station?

How many members of Jjagged Bbanner do you imagine there are? I'm thinking my next piece of fan art can be these guys on stage. (Just outside Turwhitt High :))
I think the track you produced is great. I could listen to a whole album easily - in fact I want to listen to a whole album.

I imagine them as a four piece - two humans and two robots.

Drum machine: Robot 1
Bass machine: Robot 2
Singer/Guitarist: Human (Any chance he could look a bit like me? Curse my vanity!)
Ambienz: Female Human

I imagine them dressed in quite tight-fitting white clothes, with the stage mostly in shadow. Various implants for the humans.

The Drum machine is similar to some of the huge drum kits people like Nick Mason have used - i.e. surrounded by drums. Except here the robot (whose four arms each have three joints, the last section being a drumstick) is completely surrounded by a spherical mesh of semi-transparent round holographic projections, each of which triggers a sound when "hit".

The bass machine is similar in concept - either four or six holographically projected lines which are "plucked" in front of the robot, as if he were weaving. The robot has three arms - two for plucking and one with (4 or 6) long fingers, each with a mirror that shortens the beam of light, to create the pitch of the note.

The Ambienz provides synth-like sounds. However, it is not controlled directly. The brainwaves of a certain area of the player's brain are scanned, and this information in converted into sound. It's a very hard instrument to master! The Ambienz player sits in a semi-spherical container, with a holographic projection of his output that he can tweak physically if neccesary.

But i imagine this is the kind of precise answer that atrists hate! Do whatever you imagine at the end of the day - it's not like i have a monopoly on Jjagged Bbanner!

no - this is the kind of precise answer an artist loves! well, I do anyway. Of course the lead singer can look like you - send me a picture.

I like your ideas too. I guess, in reality the drum machine would be the robot, but that wouldn't look as cool as a robot playing the drums!

Talking of cool drummers - i think this guy rocks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeAcgQbaPc0

his name is Robin Guy (he has a myspace page too)

Possibly not what you were expecting - but hopefully very robot looking - here is my work-in-progress for the Drummer. Un-textured at the moment, ready for a bit of feedback:

Hi Turwhitt
Loved both of them and yes I picked up shades of ST & B5 in the first piece (not a bad thing) and also a little touch of Deus Ex in the second piece (again, not a bad thing). Great stuff! Hope to hear more and also hope DB had a listen too.

I had no idea you used 3d software for your art. I had thought they were all "drawn" using a wacom tablet or whatever is the rage these days.

Looking forward to seeing the whole band. Johnny 5 is different than i imagined, but i'm sure he'll turn out all the better for that.

Mixture of both. For this image of Jjagged Bbanner though I thought it'd be nice to do it mostly in 3D.
