Rather impressed at this stage with coasters

Anyone look at the texture on the supports close up? There's actually painted over rust spots, paints bubbling, and some nice worn effects. The more coasters I see being built the more I'm impressed with how they are turning out, also I'm seeing my own coasters improve I'm sure like others.

The smoothness is close to very good on bigger coasters, and if they refine the smoothness further and take the jaggedness out of the track on sharper turns, banks, and short pieces and work on the physics just a bit more they could make the coaster builder exceed expectations and compete for some attention with the other true coaster simulators as well as appealing to the RCT crowd, something no game has been able to accomplish yet combining the best of all the worlds. The camera needs a little work as well but it's excellent for an early alpha.

There are some extremely impressive coasters showing up and at times even with the current shaders they look realistic at certainly lighting and camera angles. I thought I read they were not yes finished with the coasters editor so I'm really excited to see what they can do with it by release time, the quality and effort is much appreciated to - date.

Yes, you can tell this is being made by people who have pride in their work, thats why its good and a certain other coaster game isnt.

RCT 1 2 and 3 are still great games [big grin] actually the same people who made RCT3 are making PC!

RCT3 certainly saw a good life span, thanks to the expansions and the modding, I was not comparing this to RCTW though, rather some of the more serious coaster builders of which there are very few. I don't expect it to ever replace the true coaster simulators but if they can improve it a bit more it certainly will have more appeal to that crowd.

Planet Coaster is now my number 1 top game of all time. Far passing NL2. The enjoyment i get out of it is huge. And them "Damn that looks cool" Moments are a plenty. I spend far too much time as a guest in my park!

LOL... You too? I use the guest eye level to see how the theming looks to them.. Sometimes I get the "oh no, gotta fix that" other times it's "Oh wow, didn't think it would look this good from here!"

Planet Coaster has some work to compete with coaster simulators. I do think it is closer then most believe. I build mainly compact coasters to save space and while its a pain to get smooth sometimes, in the end I can get it close enough to be happy with it. My only gripe is how hard it is without the freedom in the track editor. Having to find ways to build inversions with a coaster editor is not good. I would love it to be similar to NL's editor. We shall see if the Planet Coaster Gods hear us..
