Hardware & Technical Razer Taipan

Bought myself one and right after my shop warranty ended (2 weeks where I live) - it started to do wonky stuff. Not a day earlier. I can send it to Razer or go to some unafilliated sevice center I guess but too much hassle over something like mouse. I think I'll just disassemble one and see what actually gone wrong. My fear is - it's the sensor. And I have no idea how to fix one.

Now onto the issue. When I move my mouse pointer - it acts great and precise. But once I stop to move it or mouse movement seed starts to decrease - it moves a bit back (to where it's been before I started to move it) on it's own after a few seconds. Huge pain. I've been deleting files instead of closing them, misclicking on windows and so on.

Does anyone encountered something similar?

P.S.
Gonna get myself STEELSERIES Rival somewhere after the new year. Got dozen of spare mices but Taipan turned out to be total disappointment. I expected more from it :(

Does sound like a hardware issue. Regarding mice, I carried out a test of 7 gaming mice a couple of years ago and settled on a Steelseries Sensei. I'd have said it was the best I'd ever tried until I started using Logitech's wireless G700s. It's totally brilliant. Completely reliable, as fast as the best wired gaming mouse and....no wires! Highly recommended.

Curious what pad do you use with it?

I'm using a Qpad fabric mat at the moment (cheap, good and very hard wearing), with a Roccat Alumic in reserve (can get a bit cold on the wrist, but otherwise stellar). The G700s will work well on anything though. It's just that sort of mouse. Speaking of Roccat, can't recommend their top level mice enough. Great performers!

Very true. Contrary to popular belief, wireless has made great leaps and strides in the latest years. I was running a Cyborg R.A.T. 9 not long ago (until I dropped it and it broke, things are made of glass...)

As for OP, that's pretty peculiar. Taipan is a well aged Razer mouse that a lot of people use. I would have sent it in regardless if your warranty is good or not. You paid 80$ for that mouse, get that thing working!

Overall, its still surprising. I've owned half a dozen razer mice, all but 1 is still working at peak performance (my copper head was severely damaged when my friend gave it to me, and only quit a year later). I'm rockin a Naga hex ATM (side graded from a naga 12key, which also still works).

TBH, to me it sound's more like a conflicting issue with something else that's causing feedback in your mouse input. Could be hardware, or something else. Think you could post a video of it?

I've had a few Razer mice, and from my experience, they do have a limited life expectancy. But it is a couple years not a couple weeks. All of them worked awesomely for a year and a half or two years of heavy use, then the left click went out. Two of them started to double click randomly for single clicks, the other would randomly let go of held clicks. Two of the 3 also developed shorts at the cord / body joint to where it would randomly stop working briefly when moving the mouse. (Copperhead, Lachesis and just replaced a Deathadder last week.)

To me it sounds somewhat like an issue I had with a gamepad that had a twist function several years ago (I think that was when joysticks still used the gameport on the soundcard). The analog twist function would move the cursor and it was near impossible to set the thing down so it wasn't slightly out of alignment. The result was the cursor would slowly move when the mouse was still, but wasn't really noticeable when moving the mouse quickly. You had to unplug the gamepad when not using it, or it was extremely annoying. Do you happen to have any other peripherals plugged in? Older HOTAS for playing ED maybe? If so, try unplugging them one at a time and see if removing one stops the behavior. If it does, it might need recalibrated or replaced if it is just worn-out. If not, I have no idea, but it sounds like an issue separate from the mouse itself.

Edit: as a side note, I just picked up a Thermaltake Ventus on Black Friday at Best Buy as an inexpensive replacement for my dying Deathadder until I could afford a better one. Got it for like $20 because of sales that day. I'm not going to say it's the best mouse ever, but for the money I am extremely pleased. Tracks every bit as good as the Razers and Logitechs I've had or better. It's just slightly less comfortable (although I do like the weight with the removable weights in). At $20 it is a no-brainer, at the current sale price of $29 it is still a really good deal if anyone needs a decent mouse but is on a budget.

I've had some of mine for 7+ years =(. Never had a Razer mouse go bad on me except the one instance.

However, that does remind me... I recently had an issue in another game because I had my gamepad plugged in. I've also seen weird instances where my headphones are using the same ID as another device, causing neither to work when both were plugged in...
