General / Off-Topic RCT3 question for the veteren's here - custom scenery

hi guys,

Ive started playing RCT3 to get some practice in before PC is released. I am trying to load in some custom scenery and can't see it in the game.

Ive downloaded shyguy rock set.

Ive put it in the right folder as far as I can tell. The folder is 'RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum\Style\Themed'

Unzipped it first of course.

But when I load the game up I can't see how to get to it.

Can anyone help? I did try registering on RCTGO forums but something is wrong with the site and it wouldn't let me register.

Do you have all expansions? some custom stuff needs expansions to work, some need other scenery to work etc

You have to look for it.

Sometimes it appears in walls, sometimes in scenery, sometimes even plants.
The rock set is in scenery - sceneryobjects quiet at the end.
Thumbnail says "Rock" is darkbown and text says Shy-Rock Set

Thanks I have found it now. It was under the 'adventure' heading icon. I was expecting to see a new icon in that header row as I thought each one of those header icons was its own theme.

Ive downloaded some other custom scenery too, the shy guy alpine building scenery. Struggling to build anything any good though..so fiddly.

Is there any decent tutorials on how do start designing a building from scratch to make it look good?

It is the same as in PC without snap, without autoleveling, without redo, with much more broken down parts etc.
Everyone has his own way of approach to this i guess.

I know this is totally noobish compared to what you guys produce. But what would you do now to this, to improve it?

Been playing with this last couple hours. Castles don't seem too bad to get things lined up, but other custom buildings are quite tricky. Have tried and failed to create buildings with beams and windows with shutters on the front - just cannot get the right bits to line up.

Already looks nice.

You will get use to the other parts. But without the tools from PC you will get sometimes to the point where you will think: "I wish i had.... like in PC." [big grin]
