General / Off-Topic RCTW & Planet Coaster (An Audio Video)

Hey everyone, I just wanted to have you all look at this audio video I made regarding the two games. I'm not slamming any and I feel some points are raised that we can all discuss. No arguments and no hate.

What I love about this forum is the fact we all have respect for each other and take in what we all have to say.

Like I said, it is an audio video so you can just have it playing in the background, I really hope you'll have a look and also that I won't get in trouble for posting it.

I'm really interested in hearing what you think and to discuss it with you.

Thanks everyone!

Quite a late response from me, but I would like to say that I appreciated your audio video. I've listened to it a few times now, and I stand with you on everything that you have said.

* sigh * I can hear your frustration on RCTW, and I have that frustration as well. Apart from what you've said, I have nothing to add to that.

I too don't want RCTW to fail. Like you have said, it is a piece of art, like Planet Coaster, and it can become great. I still hope for that to happen with RCTW, just as for Planet Coaster. I hope for the best, and I wish Atari and Nvizzio the best.

I appreciate it too that everyone has respect for each other at this forum. It is really nice to be here at the Planet Coaster forum.

So thank you again for your audio video! Take care and all the best! [up]

I can't really add to what you have said Chris in the audio/video and what Joel has said above. When two games of the same genre are being made roughly at the same time, one will have there own preference. I want and I do hope that both games do turn out really good at the end of the day.

But I have to admit that, I much prefer the style of Planet Coaster and have to praise Frontier, for the way they are presenting this game to us all.

Thank you for posting Chris

Cheers for the video/audio

I agree with most of what you've said! It's a shame really as I actually don't think RCTW will be a terrible game, I worry it might turn out to be a bit ordinary but visually it looked ok, all it needs is a bit of park management magic sauce + and injection of fun and it would be alright. The big problem with RCTW is two things, first off it's legacy and of course the marketing (or lack thereof) machine at Atari. Atari's marketing of the game leaves a lot to be desired, it reminds me of people back at University who were trying to wing it during a presentation. No real substance to anything, just some vague details about nothing note-worthy and constant promises of "Hey, next time we'll show you something magical!!". It reads like an ill thought out cover up, which makes you wonder what do they really have? I suspect they're trying to ride on the Rollercoaster Tycoon legacy to some extent to push sales and interest of this new game but that will only get them so far. That's a worry as a lot of their focus (or what little we know of it) is based on user generated content which requires an active and engaged user base to actually produce that content. Atari's recent reputation with other games isn't exactly brilliant also hence why it's actually important to engage with their fanbase, to show their support.

What they really need to do is actually show the game off, show that they're tuned in and passionate about it! No more of this "oh, everything is awesome" nonsense, Give us some videos of a working park, concept arts, works in progress and details on the actual meat of potatoes of the game. If the game is going to be delayed again then just fess up and be honest! I'd have far more respect for that, compared with their current strategy of silence.

*Gets off high horse*

Anyway! I'm not going to cancel my pre order of RCTW, and I'm still even looking forward to it. I do hope that Nvizzio can pull off something half decent but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my doubts and worries about the game. I guess the rest of the story is really upto Atari and co now.

Cheers,
K.

Thanks man, glad you liked it!

I have seen it. It is quite interrested...

Thank you for posting Chris

You're very welcome Granddad!

The issue I have with that is, I really don't think they have that yet. Working parks. Seriously without all the negative comments they are getting they should just show us that they have a working game, the fact they have not is crazy. The are the worst at communicating, it's laughable!

I think the two can live in this land together, but one is a dry sandwich and the other a 12 stack cheese burger.

Mmmmm, I would like the cheeseburger please. With extra magic sauce? Yes please. Thank you! [yum]

Seriously, I do think the two of them could live in this land together as well. We'll see in a few months (I hope).

I don't think I would be so angry if they didn't treat the fans this way.
I agree. I really want both games to be great, but it is very, very, very (yes 3x) frustrating for what is (not) happening at the other side.

Before I get sucked into it again, I'll just continue enjoying looking at this delicious cheeseburger (with Planet Coaster logo on it) I am seeing right now, for this moment. Yummie! [yum]

Could you just imagine, if Frontier were still with Atari. They would get the same treatment as Nvizzio, not allowed to do dev diaries, or show progress like they have. I totally blame Atari for everything to do with RCTW. They just don't care about people like Frontier do, all Atari want is your money, irrespective of what the finished game will be like. I have no respect for Atari whatsoever! I am just so thankful that Frontier have gone it alone and are putting their heart and soul into PC and caring about their customers.

Exactly! No idea what they're thinking.
