Re-appearance of the space shooter genre could happen soon

Lots of talk about new space shooters, and even Chris Robert might come back to it. Yay.

If space shooters will come back, so will space traders in their wake.

Who knows, maybe we will party in 2013 as if it were 1993.

Yes, I read about this at the SSC. It's great he is thinking of coming back to the genre, perhaps it might encourage "other devs" to come back too?

I know it's not Elite, but I used to love Wing Commander on the Amiga....and the 3DO, remember that?

And about time too, space sims were a bit under represented at GOG (with I-War and Freespace and Privateer games being notable exceptions), so seeing the Wing Commander series on there is a good thing. I hope they can get the rights to publish more of the series.
