Re-brand E: D as "Bad Casino Simulator: In Space!"

Should E:D be re-branded?

After 2.1, with the sucktacular grind-fest that RNGineers provide, I thought it would be sensible to ask FD to consider re-branding the game.

I wouldn't dare presume to speak for all the players out there, but I for one didn't spend my hard-earned cash to play a Poor Casino Sim. Why poor? Because real casinos don't force you to play 7 tables (or machines if you don't like tables) to maybe get a reward on the 8th. Right now the grind in ED is really craptastic (pun intended): RNG for materials, RNG for data, RNG for ships to blow up, RNG for asteroids to mine, RNG for material-giving-missions, RNG for planet minerals, RNG for signal sources, and at the end of it all moar RNG for every single stat present in a singular modular upgrade - plus special effects -... It's awful FD, it's just bloody awful...

FD, there's little you can do for me now, I paid for the game long ago, but if you want to lure more suckers into buying your game at least extend them the courtesy of being honest about what E: D has turned into.

Lol.
I am sorry Sir but this casino only accepts cash and / or chips specific to that cash amount. We don't accept heat generators or carbon. Unless the carbon is in the form of a diamond.

Rebranding - why not? After all, you just rebranded the last post complaining about not being able to kit out a Robigo metaboat and deal death without fear of reprisals.

Biased poll? Check! Masked swearing? Check! Bad analogies? Check! Whiny signature? Check!

Okay, I'll take a guess: its an OP from a frustrated grinder about either RNG or AI?

Yes, I win!

Bad analogies? Do please elaborate if you can.

Well lots of the stuff you mention isn't RNG but based on different locations, status and missions. Doesn't mean some aspects don't need improvements, but your thread does a poor job in suggesting them.

Don't worry, sleutelbros isn't someone but a poorly scripted bot complaining about any real complaint made by player and using strawman argument to try and take the thread down.

You basically see him come to any negative post/thread posted.

A troll, basically? Thanks for the tip, I'll refrain from asking him for more clarifications.

A roulette wheel, indeed, but unbeknownst to many, the wheel is currently rigged; if timed right, you can stop it on an effect...

A special effect only? Or can you stop it on stat rolls too? And how would it work?

Have only seen it on the wheel.

Well lots of the stuff you mention isn't RNG but based on different locations, status and missions.

How are they not RNG based?

Material spawns from NPC ships: (two equally ranked/equipped NPC ships will drop slightly different amounts and types of materials)
Data from scanning ships: (same as above, but about half the scans yield no data)
Specific ships showing up: (whether in a RES, or flying through space, the distribution of ships is random)
Asteroid resources dropped: (sometimes you'll get lucky and fill your cargo with painite, sometimes you'll spend a couple of days and only get a third of that)
Missions and their rewards: (totally random - and adding insult to injury you have to log to main menu and switch between solo/private-group/open if you don't want to jump to other stations)
Planet minerals dropped: (same as with mining, even with all the info around about which planets have which resources you might get 1 polonium per week or one per hour)
Signal sources in space: (yes, randdom)

Stat X for Module Y (every module usually has 4 or more stats): (you can see the roulette wheel at work...)
Special Effect roll: (also random, and most of the time you get squat)

Doesn't mean some aspects don't need improvements, but your thread does a poor job in suggesting them.

My thread makes no attempt whatsoever at suggesting improvements. Do try to criticize only what's written, please.

It has been said so many times that its hard to truly believe thats a sincere question, but as the match preview wont start for a few minutes I'll humour you: 'RNG' means very little beyond 'random number generator'. The random elements in ED are nothing like the random elements in a casino. To start with, in ED the cards are stacked in favor of the player, and the player get to influence the odds him/herself. In a casino, the cards are stacked against the player and if you start influencing the odds in your favor you'll be kicked out and possibly prosecuted. In ED, you can just play the game and you'll inevitably end up with mods. In a casino you cant just stroll around and inevitably walk out with a profit. In ED the materials are a byproduct of the gameplay, you are supposed to play the game and get materials as you go, in a casino you play exclusively for the potential money. In ED people have been trading, mining, bounty hunting and exploring without getting any kind of mod, material or commodity in return, whereas nobody will play a slot machine if there is no possibility for monetary rewards. Its just an incredibly daft analogy, only slightly less silly that the whole 'every car is the same why RNG in engineers oMG!!?!?!'.

Thanks for assuming I am a troll btw, just because a random dude told you so. Bravo.
