You have to take off but less than 50m. Then do a 360 horizontal, followed by a 360 vertical, then nod the ship twice towards the marker.
After doing this, land and relog, and it will be reset.

I have not been able to use relogging much since EDO launch. I use the SC method. Take off, fly straight up, go to SC ASAP, immediately pull back the stick and come about. Put you 12 to 16 km away from base, fly back, land, and data will have returned. This worked fine for me, but, with all the patches and stuff, who knows if it still works.

But to be honest, with the exception of SDPs - which soon will be spammed on us when they adjust the drop rate in typical FDev style - I was able to get all the stuff I need for reasonable modding quite easily just doing missions. and my game time was quite casual since release...

Actual immersive gameplay : grinding a bunch of crashed satellites because apparently in the Milky Way it's raining satellites (hallelujah). Then I need a bunch of duct tape, which is not sold, but stolen from spa and resorts.
And all that work to make my gun shoot bigger boom boom. Provided I stole some cat meme from the same resort so that some random dude I never heard before but who sent me a mail recently can upgrade said weapon.
