This is so true. I remember clearly being in my Sidey, positively stupified at how I was EVER going to be able to afford a 10-20m cr Cobra. It seemed at the time unattainable.
So when I eventually made 100m credits it felt like a complete game changer for me. Plenty of rebuy cash and some for the ship I lusted after most- the Python. i wanted to make enough dough to buy that ship particular, more than the Anoconda, more than any of them( I should note that along the way to 100,000,000 m I sold no ships along the way except the Sidewinder, still have my A-rated and now engineered ASP-X and VIPER ).
In any case I still fly the Python today as my go to ship. I love the way it handles in SC, it's ability to beat interdictions, it's cargo capacity, it's 45LY FSD range. And it's made me a billionaire.

The first 100 million is the most important. It allows you to buy and outfit 90% of ships any way you want to, do anything you want, anyway you want.
Gratz. I was playing since 2015 and only had 2 ships and perhaps 50 mil to my CMDR's name. Stopped playing entirely about 6 months after Horizon's release because missions/trading was boring, combat didn't bring much in, and mining was pants. Basically the game got boring because there was no way to make serious cash without long grinds.
Then a month ago, I decided to reinstall the game and give it another go. Found out about core mining.
Within 2 weeks I had 6 ships and over billion Crs.
Now I'm just rolling around engineering the crap out of my ships, slowly spending the wad.
So LOL don't believe people when they tell you money doesn't buy you happiness. It's a lie!

Just upload your data to Inara, under credits tab set your personal goal, after each session load data and Inara will tell you how long it will take you to reach your goal.
On top of obligatory GZ for your milestone. I remember my first million, my first 10 millions, my first 100 millions and recently my first billion. Each step opened new posibilities so well done CMDR.

I remember hitting my first 100m mark back in the day.
I recently hit the 1Bn mark, thanks to core mining earlier this year.
Then promptly spent most of it. Lol
Money isn't really a milestone for me anymore, I keep it topped up above 500m, but I don't hoard it.
My goals now are building fully engineered PvP ships.
Recently finished my first one.

I never cared much about money or how to become rich in a few days, just played the way I enjoyed most, some fighting, trading exploring.
Never did any mining, never been to sag A, never seen a thargoid or any guardian ruins, but still had some fun while I played.
