Has anyone created the legendary earth from the moon shot in ED. I've not actually tried to land on the moon yet. I just arrived back at SOL last night before docking at galileo for the night.

I've got the horizons pack so wondering if I can take my srv onto the moon..

The Moon is in permit locked system and not landable. Might still become ok with the vanity camera zoom option in use (IIRC someone tried a before vanity camera wasn't a thing, and the result was pretty underwhelming).
Other moons, that are landable, orbiting Earth-like Worlds are available.

Found one with pretty tight orbit, but didn't get quite the result I was hoping for. Didn't linger, at some other time the Galaxy may be out of the field of view.

I will land on one of those moons and hope they are not too far away. I get the feeling it would not be possible to recreate the shot.. If anyone has please do post it

If you are thinking about the Apollo 8 “Earthrise” picture, then the good news is that was taken from orbit, so you might be able to get into a suitable orbit to achieve the effect.

The bad news is that I also remember someone did this and it was entirely underwhelming. It could well be down to what the effective lens length is from the camera suite as opposed to what the actual picture was taken with though.

It is what I was thinking of. I've not found a picture on here yet. Still searching.

I looked through my picture folder and apparently I deleted them. You may have better luck, but the camera in Elite won't duplicate the original Apollo 8 photo of Earthrise.

Most photos on the old forum were actually links to photos stored on sites such as imjur as there was so little space on the forums server, maybe you did something like that.

I seem to recall a good side-by-side comparison one, buried deep in the meme thread. Not sure if it was photoshopped, or a "natural" shot from the game.

The Earthrise shot was taken with a zoom lens. So to duplicate the effect in ED, you'll need to take a hi-res screenshot, using the external camera at maximum zoom, and even then it will need cropping.
