Re: what if...

o7 Cmdrs

Thoughts drift through my head like a spaceship drifting through deep space.

I noticed the cost of my ship repair upon arriving at Hutton orbital was cr325,000 for a flight of around 1.5 hours.

What would happen if I carried on past Hutton orbital and drifted further and further away. Would there come a point where my ship would disintegrate if I did not repair it?

What if I wanted to fly to the next system using thrusters only.. would my ship make it?

Are shields related to the repair costs? Low shield = higher repair cost?

I could experiment to find out but it would be a big boring waste of time but nonetheless it's a scenario that could happen..

There's a specific thing called ship integrity that goes down while you're in supercruise. The longer you are in, the lower that goes, all the way to 0%. The lower it is, the less resistence your hull has to damage (I think it reduces it by about 75% when integrity is 0). It doesn't go any lower than that, and I think it reaches 0 within the time it takes to get to Hutton Orbital. So, no. It shouldn't cost more than that (unless you've taken actual damage).

As the others have said, it's not possible to fly to another system n normal space.
the hyperspace jump acts as a disguised loading screen to load the various assets, NPCs, eventual CMDRs in the system you are going to.
