Reading glasses or what?

Is there any reason to install the Nvidia GeForce Experience when my Rift arrives? I don't normally install this with my drivers but wondered if it might be advantageous with the VR.

No. GFE is used for recording / streaming your game. It is no benefit to VR at all.

I never installed it on my machine. It just just managing VR by the skin of its teeth. I didn't think there was any point in trying to record video.

I have a 3 level vary focal glasses for distant, middle and reading as I'm as blind as a bat. Good news I can use the rift perfectly. In fact when in space I have the best eyesight I have had for many years.

I look forward to your post

And here it is ... I do not need my glasses whatsoever! Once you get the rift correctly onto your head, no problems at all. Now my glasses I need for reading and looking at a screen are not that strong: somewhere between 1.5 and 1.75 (difference between my left and right eye). But even the difference does not give any problems with the rift.

Hope this helps.

Oh and BTW, the experience is just ... WOW ...

Please post after you have used it telling us if you get by without any glasses

I can happily report that I certainly need not wear glasses when using the Rift - I only need spectacles for reading and relatively near, like a computer monitor - I don't need then for watching TV or outside for example. However, I am not as enamoured of the visuals in Elite as others seem to be, only a small area directly in front is sharp, peripherally the image is not so good. In effect if you turn your eyes you seem to be re-focussing (or attempting to) so I end up turning my head to look at anything and I am having a hard time accepting it.

The minute they started asking for a login I said byebye.

Much rather just use OBS for those features anyways, and they even have a replay buffer\shadowplay function now.
As with all things that take a little more effort, you also gain a lot of flexibility.
