I have played the game for nearly 4yrs now. I play in Open and on my own so on occasions when I have met other real Cmdrs it is usually just a quick o7 and on my way. I was contacted on the Inara site by a Cmdr from a faction I joined when I started playing. He was asking me and other faction members who had drifted away over time if we wanted to get back together again since the inclusion of squadrons in the latest update. Having never been in a wing or such I would prefer if we could talk to each other rather than text. I don't have a headset with a mic but I do have the mic on my webcam. Is this adequate and how do I set this up in game? I had a look in the audio options earlier tonight but other than the headphone option I didn't see anything obvious. Could someone point me to an answer or advise me on how to go about this?. Forgive me if I am missing something obvious but I am an elderly gent and not a PC expert.

Shouldn't have to do anything special, unless you have multiple mikes in which case you might have to choose in your OS which device is the one accepting input. As to whether or not the laptop mike is adequate, that's only something you'll discover when you use it.
