Braben is a true visionary and the risk is definitely there. Pretty soon we won't have to strap anything that big and bulky like the current generation VR devices and that'll amplify the potential sociological isolation effect. Just look at people walking while staring at smartphones and/or texting on them...and that's just a tiny screen.

Yes that is also a possibility but I was thinking of stuff people could just put on instead of having it surgically installed. A lot of people are uncomfortable having technology installed surgically. If we want to go the surgical route the best solution might be to just install a CPU/GPU right to the spine so you could then simulate all of your senses at once.
I find a lot of issues with having a CPU/GPU installed right on the spine because if someone hacked that chip you would be in for a really bad day. []>}
