Realistic details

Hi everyone.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts on ED.
Here they are:

1. Stars seem small
I understand ED ships are super fast during supercruise mode. However, I still think the stars are missing some visual details that could make them look exactly what they are. Massives.
So I've been thinking in two possibilites.
Most stars have a fluid surface animation which look nice, however, these animations also look pretty fast to me, specially while surrounding the star, making it look very small...
What if we reduce the speed of these surface animations (including coronal loops) to bring the sensation of immensity to these stars?
Another possibility I thought was, right after the Frame Shift Drive disengagement animation, slow down the ship movements around the star with gradual increase, all variable, according to each star size, so that could let the pilot "feel" the size of the star during each jump.

2. Gravity pull
Would be very nice if we could have some sort of gravity full feedback in the game. For example, approaching a giant star or planet could not just reduce the ship speed during Supercruise (and that already happens, right?) but also pull the ship toward the celestial body according to your proximity, making more challenging to the pilot control the ship.

3. Slow down (or speed up) dust animations during planetary landings
Depending on the size of each planet, that animation could be a great feedback of how the gravity of each planet works.

4. Add atmosphere to some planets
Could be thin or thick, red or blue... add a better looking atmosphere to some planets would definitely make the trip through these planets more interesting!

5. Atmosphere entry burn up
Would be great to see a nice looking animation for that event

6. Video option: Chromatic aberration effect!
I've seen this feature in many games. I'd love to see that effect in ED, specially during fast supercruise trips.

What do you guys think?
I appreciate the opportunity and I wish you all a great day.

Have you looked at the difference between giant stars and regular stars regarding SC? I can be scooping a really large star at multiples of C, entry points to the system are further from the stars, gravitational gradient affects SC, star sizes do affect these things a great deal.

2. Gravity pull

Gravity doesn't really affect us that way because of the type of drive we are using, mass affects SC speed, but the gravity is not strong enough to curve our course, and in normal space our ships have a max speed, have you tried chasing a mission object that spawns around a planet?

3. Slow down (or speed up) dust animations during planetary landings
Depending on the size of each planet, that animation could be a great feedback of how the gravity of each planet works.

Try landing on a really high grav planet, say HD 148937 3 to get an idea of how gravity effects your ship handling, there's plenty of feedback, usually ending in a URD.

4. Add atmosphere to some planets

We don't have atmospheric planets in game yet, when we do we will have atmospheric planets with all effects and advantages they bring.

See reply to point 4.

Why? Why would we get chromatic aberration in SC, I'm not against it, I am just wondering why you think it's realistic that a ship traveling at up many 100's of C should suffer from chromatic aberration and why you think it would be realistic. Just because it's featured in other games doesn't make it realistic, it just makes it a feature of other games.

What do you guys think?

There are lots of ideas, some have been discussed endlessly, like legs and atmospheric planets, the end result of these things is, they will get introduced when FDEV is ready to introduce them and not before.
