Realistic economy, Player owned minor factions and a galactic stockmarket

I was thinking, I've got I personally have about fifteen ships in storage, and we have the ability to hire NPC's, and I like many other players have large reserves of credits in cash, ie at least a couple of hundred million in the bank. I once had a billion credits in cash but then went and bought a lot of prismatic shields which ate a lot of money.

SO... What can I do with all this wealth, not a great deal to be honest. It would be good if I could put some of it into a share portfolio and have a meta game to play, give me a reason to follow galactic happenings, as BGS factions wax and wane their share prices soar and plummet, could buy my own star system with enough seed capital and good luck, or lose it all trying. When it was announced wreaken corporation had that big convoy leaving Zearla to go and build some hush hush stuff in Col70, their share price would have risen, when the

Or with all those ships gathering dust in my hangars at my home starport, and my credits doing nothing for me, and all the crew lounges having unemployed pilots, why can't we the players start up our own organisations? Say make it cost 5bn credits so either uber rich players or groups of players could collaborate into it and crowd fund a corporation.

Once started this corporation would then be able to invest in ships, pilots, automatic mining extractors, surface bases etc... The organisation would then be able to earn money by such things trading, mining, putting NPC's in our organisations ships to run missions for our faction or others for reward. PLayer owned BGS factions would be on the stock market, mergers and acquisitions would be possible, though the mechanics of players organisations being bought out would need some massaging to prevent torrents of tears.

If organisations owned a rake of synergic assets, such as an extraction economy and a refinery and a manufacturing asset, the flow of materials from their own mining to refinery to factory would yield higher proffits than just buying in the commodoties from external suppliers.

Basically I'm proposing to give the galaxy an actual economy with high finance. It wouldn't directly affect the current playing of the game, players would still be free to be a lone wolf one pilot, but they could speculate on the endeavours of others of they themseves could group up to be something bigger than themselves, adding depth to the galaxy.

I like it, add more depth. Although not sure I like the hostile takeover idea being a part of it, although mergers could be a thing. Being able to invest in minor factions would be plenty. The problem is not all factions run their economies the same, with different government types. So this would have to be limited to factions with certain governments, like corporate and cooperative, possibly a few others. I don't see this working for certain governments like dictatorship, anarchy, and feudal.

I like the idea.

We could then increase role play as pirates, enemies factions will come into play as well to attack your system.

From another thread but seemingly relative to this idea

While this IS not an X game i think it would be a cool idea to a point - if done right. And such a mechanic is unlikely since it would most likely demand a full expansion in itself.

Open ONLY
- This would be an end-game and you should not be able to build up a super corporation in solo or group
- Corporate ships would NOT show up as "hollow squares" since they are not Pilot Federation members
- Corporation NAME would indicate a CMDR owned corporation after a scan
- Scanning a CMDR would show their corporate affiliation

Co-operation
- Multiple CMDR's can join the same corporation and all costs/benefits would be shared
- Purchased NPC ships and crew would NOT be shared, merely the endeavor would be shared

The corporation
- We must register a company
- We must pick a HQ system within the bubble
- HQ will be affiliated with the local powerplay faction AND ruling minor faction in the system AND major faction
- Corporations enjoy the same legal protection as anyone else if attacked so it's not a powerplay free for all war

The Cargo Ships
- We must purchase and outfit the ships
- We must hire pilots and co-pilots to all ships
- We pick missions and assign them to our transports
- Can only pick missions from HQ station so your ships must also return home
- These ships cannot be engineered (corporate ruling in regards to voided warranty and accounting issues)

Galaxy Map
- HQ shows up on map
- Current system location of ships are shown on map
- Members show up on map

Escorts
- The corporation can get ships and pilots and have them join a CMDR in a wing for missions
- We must purchase escorts and pilots for our transports
- These ships cannot be engineered (corporate ruling in regards to voided warranty and accounting issues)

Route and wing planning
- We must plan the route for the ships and ensure they get where they should and also be careful with anarchy systems en-route
- Ships must have a fuel scoop or fuel tank for the entire mission
- Wings must be assigned

Rewards and Taxes
- Faction influence rewards for missions are split between: Player / Ruling Minor Faction / Major Faction
- Missions and/or cargo profits are taxed with the player gaining 60% of profits and the rest goes to minor and major faction
- After profits are delivered the pilots salaries and ship repair/refuel cost are deducted

Powerplay
- A company can by itself not be involved in powerplay, merely be within it's influence and gain the bonuses from it.
- Corporate ships cannot do powerplay delivery missions or combat missions
- CMDR's cannot be in different Powerplay factions while in a corporation

I like the idea and all the bells and whistles until it screws over solo and group players. You should be able to have one with just NPC's.
