really diggin the new galnet radio

I never really followed any of this stuff going on in the background before, the lore etc....

quite interesting indeed

it's actually added a bit of depth to what I'm doing for sure, and is a very welcome thing to have during long supercruise journeys.

wish I woulda had this while I was doing the namrodo runs and the 5000 ly palin trip lol.

Agreed. Its a really nice addition. All that is need are some galaxy map links in the galnet articales.

There's a radio? Oh wait, got excited there for a moment, you mean the Galnet audio?

Yup love Galnet audio too and the new "voice packs" for the ships as well. The audio team keeps making the game better and better.

Agreed. Listening to the lore around the formation of the Pilots Federation on the trip to Maia tonight was nice.

I also find the way it says "Federation" amusing. I don't know why.

I had about 20 minutes to play last night, and I spent most of that tuned into the galnet news. At first, I thought it was actual voice acting, and then was relieved when I realized that it is text to speech, and impressed at the quality.

There are a lot of very subtle tones of sppech and inflections that make it suprisingly natural sounding. I also like how the sound changes as I switch to and from external camera.

Nice job!

Seriously? I couldn't tell!
That is really impressive.

What I don't quite understand (given it's text to speech) is why not all the Galnet articles are available in audio form. I guess I can appreciate that maybe some of the regular station update ones might not be interesting but why not the older articles? Surely text to speech can be pointed at any block of text? It's not just me? Others are seeing this too right?

Yes. It would require some kind of previous / next function though. Did I miss something or do we have pause / play only ?

There are a reasonable number of older articles that have been made available to Galnet Audio, some from six months ago or even older. It sounds to me that they have been hand-picked to bring folk who haven't been paying attention up to date with story development over the last year or so.

Ideally we now need an increased rate of publication of new Galnet articles, so there's always something new to listen to.

Ah OK - I missed that, guess I didn't scroll down far enough (stopped when I saw all the ones without audio and assumed only the most recent 5 or 6 had audio).

Agree with OP, listening to it last night, just seems to add a bit of atmosphere as I'm hoping around from system to system.

Completely agree. Really nice addition to the game that helps make the galaxy feel like more of a living place rather than a collection of data points.
