Really stuggling with trading

So, here's my problem: Any and all decent trade routes that yield a decent profit only last a few hours before the supply/demand start to level out and the run becomes not profitable. It's taking me at least the better part of an hour to find a new trade route and before long that's also exhausted.

Sounds...familiar. I played early this morning in a type 6 and gathered up several hundreds of thousands, running around Morgor, Dahan, Asellus, Eranin, and LP 98. Not a bad run. As the day went by though, I could see the profits dropping drastically. A little bit later in the evening most of the goods had a payout of 25% to 50% of what they were when I started.

I tried finding some new routes, and well, I did find some stations spread around that still had good prices, but I simply couldn't find a comfortable route like the one I used earlier. Honestly, I mostly feel bad for the guys in the Haulers and Sidewinders. They can't just go "**** it - I'll just go over there in two hops - it's just 20 light years"; they suffer worse, no doubt.

In the end though, I did reach my 1.5 million credit goal, sold the type 6 and bought a Viper. Not much money in it, but good fun chasing bad guys and blowing stuff up.

Haha fair enough. I plan to get the type 9 to save for the anaconda and fully kit it out. I mean military grade composite alone is 2 million credits

For those of you having problems taking missions from the bulletin board remember that for the delivery missions you will need cargo space if you don't have enough you can't take the mission.

The haulers are now 24k and so they aren't horribly expensive and once you get into one of those you can accelerate the money made considerably.

But currently the missions are a new thing and are a work in progress, mining is still to come and I suspect a lot of data is still being collected on trading with a larger playerbase so I suspect that by gamma getting out of the first ship should be easier.

Actually prices for every ship vary wildly, and in your example the hauler is actually about 56k because you now seem to get the value of the trading in of your current ship for a different one.

I spent three hours today(didn't even realize) dog fighting NPC and human players, picked up some stolen cargo, and limped back to the closest black market to sell off before logging.

Even with all the bounties I collected, the cost of ship repair and refueling set me back to a net loss of 300 credits. :|

I don't even care. :D

(playing in the Rift by the way :D :D :D)

I do need to find some better ways to make money though.

Playing in the rift?

If it helps, there is some trading money to be made around the Ovid/Magek systems right now. Also some extras on the Bulletin Board for detours to Opala, Chi Hercules, etc.

In Sidey/Hauler, you have to watch your jump ranges on the Opala leg, but the rest seem good to go.

Oh yeah? what goods?

Does anybody ever actually buy the catalysers? I swear I keep falling for those. And ever since I got a hauler, the margins have dried up considerably. I was making more in my sidey. haha

Maybe it's just the activity today.

No I was charged 24k from the basic sidewinder, from somewhere near Astellius Prime.

The ship prices changes from place to place as well as ship trade in prices and for lower tier ships you might get a better deal away from the richer stations.

I got a full 24k refund on my hauler back to sidewinder from Morgor where audlin only wanted to give me 15k.

So when moving about I need to check ship prices more.

wasn't sure first if OP was sarcastic, because i've done a one-jump-route in my hauler yesterday for a few hours and nothing ever dried out

also i think the courier-missions are not paid well enough - on the mentioned one-jump-route i made 11k profit one way and 6k on the way back - those missions giving around 5k, just seem underwhelming

although from an "RP-standpoint" i'd prefer long-distance missions, or also high-volume missions, where you'd have to make several trips etc..
