The dynamic range in the new lighting is very flat. Everything is way to bright.
Before 3.3 it was much nicer. When near a star it was very bright and you couldn't see the detail of the faint stuff. Now you can see nebula while near the star. This is terrible. Make this a choice. The old rendering was much more realistic and your eyes adjusted as you moved away from a star appropriately. This new scheme is bright everywhere see everything all the time. The cockpit is fully lit with now light far away from a star. It's horrible for me. I hate the new lighting because I was sooooo in love with the nuance and subtlety of the old lighting. Can't we have sliders and choice? This new lighting is like TV at night sound mode where it crushes the dynamic range into a tiny place so you can see everything all the time. That's terrible for night sky viewing and it's unrealistic seeing that totally take me out of the game. The immersion of having different magnitude things revealed as you left light sources was awesome!
