Last time I logged on was into the beta for 1.1.

There was a bug then where the FPS in supercruise dropped drastically when there were other commanders about.

I just logged in again tonight and it's still happening.

So has that been put in the too-hard basket or is it still being looked at?

Yeah, really. Checking the Known Issues post (and, generally, the Bug Reporting forum) may provide you with additional info to set your expectations.
