Really???

I was just minding my business exploring and decided to check out one of those strong signal sources. The second I come out of supercruise I was under attack from 3 enemies. Usually NPCs will give some sort of notice in the chat log, or scan you, or at least give you a change to get your bearings. My shields were gone and I was at 60% before I even saw what was shooting me. Turns out it was a python and 2 who knows what. I died before I could look at the other 2, or escape or anything. As soon as my FSD cooled down I attempted escape but there wasn't a chance. This happened about 5 minutes after I accepted a federal promotion quest against a "mostly harmless" target. The requirement for the mission was that I was "harmless" (which clearly I am). The target turned out to be an anaconda that killed me in about 15 seconds. I don't understand the balance in this game at all. Seems unnecessarily difficult for combat noobs unless you want to farm HIEZs or mine or trade until you can afford an absurdly expensive ship. Not like I'm picking fights in a sidewinder either.

SSS are always hard but have better reward, as do Assassination's with the crosshair symbol. You can be Harmless with 0 kill's under your belt and own a Anaconda A rated for combat in this game is why. ;)

Really.

If I'm in a Wing with my best buds, and some guy just randomly pops in, you probably would get the same response as you got from the NPCs.

The goal is to get the NPCs to react like real people. If you've been in the forums, read the manuals, etc. you would know Strong Signals are multiple ship/Elites designed for Wings. Solo players beware. :)

I totally sympathize with you, This happened to me and i got my ass handed to me by 4 fer-de-lances, i lost over 55k in gold lol. Wont be doing that anytime soon again.

There is an instance from a SSS where there are containers of gold just floating in space and no ships around. As soon as you get next to the nearest container to scoop it up, NPC Anacondas and Pythons will jump in and immediately start shooting.

I lost a Vulture to that trap last week.

That one is absolutely awful, I've had it happen to me twice first when I started and again as few days ago. Saw it thought let's see what happens and then boom 6 eagles and a type 9, managed to escape in my viper after fsd taking eons to charge, thank Christ for composite armour I really do think that's what saved me.

Ha, same thing happened to me last week. I was blown away within 60 seconds and I barely had time to get a target lock on one of my 4 attackers. Its dangerous in the black.
