Really?

So for a few days now, I'm getting jumped while on missions by dangerous and up condas and fdls.

I'm ranked deadly myself. Now today it's an endless stream of harmless and mostly harmless eagles.

They're no good to me, they drop nothing interesting, no good for advancing my rank either. All they're good for is as an irritant. Every time it happens now all I can hear in my head is that stupid random encounter noise from final fantasy.

Yep, same here. Harmless Eagles threatening to 'Boil me up!' Have had a few high end NPC's, without the weapon mods they are back to being easy again.

NPC's are back to being irritating fly's that you swat whilst on a trade run.

I must be playing a different game. I have seen posts like this for a while. I have been running cargo missions, bounty hunting and hunting in RES since 2.1 in a Viper IV and have just not seen any out of the ordinary interdictions. Are you in Open or Solo?

This is (apparently) what people want. Less (preferably low/ no) risk. Frontier have again adjusted the AI so there are far fewer elite and dangerous about. And yes, that means it'll be even harder to collect materials now.

Change is hard. Frontier tried, but the AI is going back to being potato again, because this is what folks seem to want. No mods, less elite/ dangerous (to the point that I only see them if there's a mission update adding named AI, that are hunting me to any missions I fly) which also means less materials of value.

By next week we'll be back to 2.0. Rejoice. :|

To be fair, the mods were broken as (insert work the forums will block) and they want to re-introduce them once the bugs are worked out....well at least for higher end ships.

Perhaps your issue is that you are not enticing the challenging opponents. Why don't you take on solo deadly and Elite assassinations etc? They seem to be targeted at group play so should present a challenge solo. Could also go looking for very high threat USS, they usually have 5 or 6 high ranked ships to nail you to a wall as soon as you enter.

I literally had to take high level missions this evening in the vain hope of getting high level AI to spawn. It looks like high threat USS is about it for now; SC is a sea of low level ships that drop absolutely nothing of value (but they are happy to drag you out of SC all the same). Making it even harder to collect materials now.

And doing endless assassination missions isn't my cup of tea, thanks.

I understand people aren't happy with insta-kill bugged AI, but we're rapidly heading back to 2.0, complete with the daft ramming behaviour; just without the spin. Apart from a gun ship that grabbed me in SC after I lost my shield and wailed on the hull a bit, I was as safe as a house the entire evening.

Because frontier are being pressured to not only remove mods, remove bugs but also nerf AI; this is way too much to undo in one hit.

It's like SJA built this amazing (and slightly scary) AI, and it's just being methodically deconstructed and neutered to the point of near irrelevance.

I am not particularly disagreeing on any point, but you can't expect the galaxy to be about to end every time you undock either. Besides, with the inevitable power creep of the mods, however painfully long that's going to take, NPC's will still end up being utterly laughable to the skilled pilot. Did you have a plan for that day?.....I know I don't yet....
 
I'm still getting interdicted by         elite Vultures every 4 mins. It's relentless.

Swap you. You can have my stupid and annoying AI that have no value, waste time and drop nothing but endless very common; and I'll take the elite vultures "every 4 minutes". I'll hit the jackpot. :)

I don't expect it to be endless death; I mean who would? (to be fair that's mostly been bugged AI). But there's such a thing as overdoing it. imho, frontier have overdone it by removing not just the bugs and modded weapons, but also now reducing the elite/ deadly by not a little bit. But a huge amount.

I wasn't actually kidding. Mostly harmless and low ranked AI in SC. I ran quite a few missions this evening, and only the actual mission related ships sent to attack me were high ranked. Most everything else was quite low ranked.

Again, I don't think it needs to be wall to wall death; there is no fun in this. But no challenge? That's no fun either.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of starting a thread..novice is the highest rank I've seen that's wanted in the last 25 mins! I was having a good amount of success with the deadly & elite NPCs, but at least I was made to work a little for the kills! The wah-wah'ers win again! Look at the interdiction whines as an example - they've slowed to a trickle - have more courage of your convictions FD, people always react negatively to change..

..people should just have to find their new place in the food chain! Incidentally, I'm no A the G..I had to go back to gimbals & retire my DBS when 2.1 dropped, but I embraced the challenge - very disappointed! Going to log off & get v drunk now - not in response - just it's Friday :D

I've been doing a bit of stacking so can't really tell....

I didn't really notice. Anything mission related seemed to be more of a challenge. Generic SC AI are basically turnips again. Bunch of ships flying around with no shields. [up]

Apart from a random interdiction from a dangerous gunship, my python was facing off against low ranked eagles and dbs and what not. Nothing at all like it was earlier in the week.
 
Nah. I dumped power play a long way back now. I'm able to hold my own but miss flying larger ships. Anything larger than a clipper and I get wrecked.
 
I don't even look at the mission rank requirements, only at what mats and cargo they're offering. I have no PP affiliations.

It just doesn't make sense to send endless harmless ships up against a deadly CMDR in a Corvette. I mean, what do they think is going to happen?

Get interdicted,submit,raise turrets and target enemy,fly in a straight line for about a minute while melting the eagle,stow weapons and jump away.

Time wasted : 2 or 3 minutes.
