Rear Turrets

Is there a way to have Rear Firing Turrets for ships, these wouldn't be player controlled as the original Elite's one were but auto-firing and only designed to fire against your 'Targeted' foe.....

....as there are too many easy ways to ensure the wrath of the Security Services, like them flying into your weapons stream or you taking out a 'Wanted' player while they are near by.

Thoughts....??
 
Turreted weapons will fire backwards. In target-only mode (see right hand Functions UI panel) they will only shoot at the target, compared to Fire At Will mode.

No guarantees that friendlies won't fly through your firing arcs though...
 
This is true they wont, sorry I wasn't clear in my original post, but what I was mean having turreted weapons or just rear firing weapons located on the rear of your ship, to hit targets behind you....

Actually I'm getting fed up with these turrets as they still have the same bug from day one.. they will fire at anything and it has nothing to do with the firing Arc...

I was on the tail of a wanted Adder when an NPC cobra starts firing at the Adder... it's multi-guns firing forward... but it's turret laser shooting up at me and draining my shields... but the cobra doesn't get a wanted status... what the heck is up with that?

I can have someone fly between the 100m gap between me and my target, take a single shot to their shields and now I'm the bad guy... there needs to be a way you can remotely pay the fine rather than have to spend 10 minutes getting to a station to remove the 200cr bounty..
