Rear View 'mirror' or equivalent

21st Century vehicles have them... so why can't we see behind us in the 34th Century?

I would like to see some kind of screen that we can use to see behind us - maybe a popup 'hologram' screen or similar, so that it's not immersion breaking. Surely it's not too difficult to stick a small camera on the back of the ships...

The original Elite games had separate views - I know we don't really need left / right views now (as we can look left and right in the cockpit) - but it would be nice if we could look behind us.

I would love to see the station slipping away in my rear view as I leave port, or catch a glimpse of the the ship that just interdicted me...

I can't imagine many people use the UI focus + down button combo to look at the radar zoomed in, so how's about changing that so you zoom in to the radar and it changes to display the view from a camera at the rear of the ship?

Edit: and when in the oculus, the button bound to UI focus swaps the central display between radar and rear view? (Since otherwise you'd have to lean in, which could be a pain detection-wise, if the orientation isn't reset correctly)

A totally visible canopy would be brilliant, but not implementable for all ships. I believe the eagle already has a cockpit similar to this too, I swear I've checked it out in my oculus.

Something like the cargo scoop hologram but rear facing might be useful for fleeing from a purser especially if you could target weapons with it.

You can't look directly behind you in the Eagle. Almost, but not quite.
