Reasons why no XBOX on PC/Mac Servers

I have a feeling ED wont catch on as well with XBox gamers as it has with PC. The whole controller limitations seems like it would discourage players of really enjoying ED for everything it has to offer.

Aww, you're being to hard on him. Reading the Fine Manual wouldn't have hurt, but he was just faffing about aimlessly. I've seen much worse from noob PC users - at least it wasn't full of profanity and ignorant rage-quit.

Tutorial & Guide Writer
I get a deja vu feeling here. I'm a so called 84-er (played the original Elite on the BBC micro B aka Beeb in my youth) but when I started with ED the first few hours a felt utterly lost. After that I more or less got into it. Makes me wonder why the XBoners only get 1 hour to try out the starting mission. If you want them hooked you should give them at least 3-4 hours so they get into the thrill of really flying and shooting things. Really? One hour?

Update: Tinman has later posted the following: "I think the 1 hour free trial thing is applied across all Preview games on the Xbox and therefore a Microsoft decision."

I just see someone having fun discovering the game as a complete newbie, just as many of us did a couple of months ago. Nothing wrong with that. At this point I feel some of you guys are actively trying to find reasons to hate on console players. It's getting kind of pathetic.

Yeah they are and its kind of silly.

I also think it's probably worthwhile making the tutorial outright free.

I was like that when I first started playing Elite: Dangerous (during Beta).

I was like "Where's the <insert expletive> manual for this game?".

I eventually found the manual for controlling/flying the Sidewinder (Sidewinder_Owners_Manual_WIP.pdf), but it still took a while before I got better than that! I hate to think of how many Sidewinders I lost in my first few days of playing (mostly for stuffing up the entry into a space station).

Unless this guy is a master of veiled comedy, I think Darwin will take care of him.

So funny

I want to see him review loads of other stuff.

It was a hypnotic video, like watching a whale that's been coerced into existence finding out about the world as it hurled down towards its surface.

To be fair, when I first tried Virtual Reality in Elite I grabbed my stick and twisted it around while screaming woo! wiggle wiggle wiggle!

edit: a wee bit more text

I agree with Wolverine as well. One hour does seem a little stingy. People should have the time to have fun flicking switches and muck about.

first thing every xbox player will have to learn is to "read and think", the habit to have a GPS icon that tells them where to go is dangerous for the brain activity

then after that, if he succeed, he will have to learn to be "patient", good luck with that :p
